All i want to do is take Final fantasy model's to make like my own lil scenes. I have maya and 3D studio max, along with FF7 + FF8 (both PC and PSX versions)

so which program(s) do i need?

I don't think anyone has hacked those yet. You might have to just take screenshots from the game and photoshop them.

For ff7 models (PC version) you need file decompress utility from
http://ficedula.cjb.net/
it is  LGP tool
For exporting moddels to various 3d formats you need Biturn 0,85
from
http://mirex.mypage.sk/index.php?selected=1

Notice that not all 3d formats will look this same. The best results are when you are exporting fromm ff7 to 3d software - Lightwave. Lwo

You can export monsters, characters, summons, weapons.....

For ff8 there is no working export tool. Future Mirex'es Biturn will support it but not now. There is only ff8 monster viewer without export options.
