Help Please Cannot recruit Yuffie

I own the platinum version of the PC game the actual game no bittorrent etc. I get to where you fight yuffie I manage to get to get past the fight and gain the exp after that the game just crashes anyone know what I need or how I can fix this problem?
 
you have to go into compatability mode and switch it to windows 98
 
That happens on my game as well. It seems to be random, so you'll eventually get past it. I know I did.

Right click on the .exe and run in compatibility mode... (am I missing something here? Do you not know what compatability mode is?)

Although I've got to say, using compatability mode has never EVER done me any good. And I mean its never made a difference with any program I've ever used, FF or otherwise. The fault usually lies somewhere else.

Prince Lex: It has helped me on several occasions, actually - though perhaps not including anything FF. And, yes, that has only ever helped in getting the game to at all start, never mind what goes on after that...

Clink: Do you have any patches installed? If you don't, have a look around the forum and the main site - there are a few patches available for various little things. Patch 1.02 and 'Chocobo-crash fix' are probably mandatory. (And with Jenova you can probably hack Yuffie into your party so you won't have to deal with the encounter if it keeps crashing.)
