Launches beep and closes without starting game

i click launch after a moment a black box appears a loud beep plays once then it closes and thats it.

it was working just fine till i changed fully all the configs to have matching graphical details.

Sounds like an issue in the settings, are all the locations pointed to the right places?
Libary location should be: Mods/7H
FF7 exe: Whichever to do with the mods your using
Aali modpath: mods/textures
Movies: movies folder

What were the graphics settings that you changed?

for FF7.exe its directed to FF7_bc.exe
Lib location is mods\7th Heaven
aali ModPath is mods\Textures
movie path is Data\movies

Graphical mods i edited were, Field models- Objects
Battle models- Enemies and characters
Battle Textures
Field models Main characters and NPCs
Field Textures Part 1 and part 2( Went from options on part 1 to Sasuki option on part 2)
World Models Enemies Characters Vehicles
World Textures

Are they all from the catalogue or any custom mods? Does it close itself or just stay black? Try it in windowed mode and see what the error says

All from Catalog, No custom mods. Closes its self after opening a black window for 1 second. Window mode or fullscreen does not effect it. same results

And you said it worked through 7h before you changed the mods

In your route folder where ff7 is installed there should be like a app log or something. A text file that reports errors

i think somehow a file got broke or something gonna just reinstall and all that fun stuff. Not like i got to redownload the mods atleast

You don't need to reinstall. Just run the GC again, choose to overwrite, and be sure a sound device is set when you get to the part with FF7Config.

I am having the same issue now, game not been touched, simply put it worked when I last ran it couple of years back, now it tries to launch, quick tiny beep then closes.

Game convertor tool seems a mess, applies all sorts of patches.  But I am definitely setting the sound card, and it still does it.  What is that tool even for, just for single mod called reunion which not everyone uses?

my log is here, which indicates it is sound related as thats the last entry.

ok I have some progress on debugging, it launches fine (with sound) if I directly launch from ff7.exe.

So the shut down is related to 7thheaven somehow.

found another post on here, I had to manually go in my registry and set the hex value for my sound card to all zero's, after that the game runs via 7thheaven.

Many are the previously-working installs that have been broken by a Microsoft patch.  Re-running the converter is typically sufficient to fix it, though in your case since it's been so long, it probably wouldn't hurt to use the registry cleaning tool first so that the converter is presented with what it thinks is a clean slate.

Others have also called it a mess, but it does what it's designed to do... drop in aali's OpenGL driver with a default config that should work for nearly everybody, implement the necessary folder structures for 7H to work, call ff7_config and set the necessary registry keys, then apply the cd and (optional) laptop patches.  As for Reunion, it does drop those .exe files as well, but there's a lot more going on under the hood.
