I've been coming to Qhimm's site since sometime before FF8 was realesed if i remember correctly. I've also been checking the forum regularly even though I (very) rarely post.

I was just think how many changes these forums have gone through.  Remember when this was just the "home-made" version that Qhimm made until people started posting hundreds of junk messages.

When you think about it this site has had many regulars for several years.... and thats a LONG time in internet years.

Anyhow......... I just felt like metioning that.

hmm... by dissing the people who post 'junk', you are in a way spamming yourself. you undoubtedly saw the spam forum. And that is where this belongs.

the internet has been around for about a decade now.... the UBB came into existance about 1 year ago...

When I said Junk thats exactly what is was. Tens if not hundreds of posts with a "garbage" subject line and no message body in them.
That was back when I still had dial up (28.8 i think..) Now that took a LONG time to load the page.

Just out of curiosity any one who has dial up, how long does it take to load this forum. I have cable here and it is almost instant.

OGLSMM->I'm on 56K and the forum loads up pretty much instantaneously for me.

Since we're in nostalgia city here, who remembers that French guy who was offering Qhimms programs as his own, was he french? what happened to him again?

OGLSMM: there is the quote code you know. just reminding you.

Ant: How long ago did that happen. I've heard nothing about it.

I remember that! It turned out that the guy was simply translating Qhimm's programs and releasing them under his name! But that's not the part... He had the gall to ask Qhimm for help! Then we found out the truth. Man, that pissed Qhimm off... I think Qhimm removed the source code from his website for quite a while after that...

PS: That was much earlier this year, back at the original, white messageboard, before we were forced to move 50 times in less than a few weeks. (At least it seems like 50 times...)

I remember that.

Stealing a program, and altering it ever so slightly and then calling it your own............... wait that sounds just like Microsoft.

The took the NDS tree and renamed some stuff in it and called it ADS.

Anyway that was off topic.

Did anyone ever get around to finishing/ adding on to the Griever program??

Very correct, this topic is not spam. Thank god I seem to have good taste in picking moderators ;-)

It has been quite a while, yes... Not that long though, my site has only been around since late 1999 if I recall things correctly.

The "french guy" is still active and apparently working on his proggies. I added a link to his site on the main page a while back, check it out if you want to compare versions

I can remember back when most of the topics in this forum were good, techy topics . . . I regret that I didn't visit this board as much back then.

Correct me if I'm wrong....BUT.

Isn't General and Spam the same thing? If, indeed, you consider this thread, spam. Sure looks like General, to me.

nevermind....got ahead of myself, there...I wish we had the ability to delete our own posts.

Actually, The General is for non-tech stuff that's relevant to something interesting, like "FFX is good. Here's why:" or "Remember back when..." or even "Who do you think is better? Kefka or Sephiroth?" That last one is border-line spam, I think...

The Spam forum is for the junk stuff like "What's your favorite color?" or "How many hotdogs does it take to blow up a microwave?" and other stuff such as "This is my site! :D ". Some might even say it's a place for Darkness, PurpleSmurf and Joey to start any topic they want without polluting the general forum. (Just so long as the topic isn't p0rn or something that breaks Qhimm's ban-the-user rules.)

I thought that the problem with the french guy was that he didn't release the source code like Qhimm stipulates on the main page, although he also didnt give him any credit either.

Hmm... I don't remember the source code bit... But I definatly remember that he didn't give Qhimm credit.

Yeah, qhimm says that anyone who alters his programs must keep it open source, which he didn't do. plus all the other stuff I thinl makes him a baaaad wittle man
