I don't have FFVIIPC and I have **** PC so I was wondering what the minimum requirement are.

Well, when I first played FFVII I used my dad's computer, which it had a 200 Mhz processor, 2 Gb hard drive memory, 32 Mb RAM, a 24x CD-ROM, and Windows 98. It played kinda slow, but at least I played it.

Minimum official requirements are:
P133 (or Cyrix 200) with a 3d card
P166 without 3d card
32MB RAM
4MB video memory
4x CDROM
DirectSound compatible card
Actually, with a 3d card the minimum CPU speed is pretty playable (even if it's only the minimum 4MB card!).

Well, if your card is supported by FF7 then you're fine. If not ... well, you meet the specs for minimum software rendering, but that is *really* crap.

haha. how true. anyway, i ran it on my p166mmx with no 3c acceleration, and it worked. just barely, but it did.

I can beat that. I ran it on a 120mhz with 48?mb ram. (With a stinkiing 2 gig hd). Without 3-d acceleration.
By the way, when I cast Knights of the Round, I could walk upstairs, make a snack, eat it, flip through the tv channels, and walk back downstairs and it would still be casting.
In other words, it was SLOW.

I played it on my P200 with 3dcard, but those knight of round are lasting really long. Especially when casted 4x and then mimed.

LOL, that's true. I didn't have any 3D accelerator and it was also very slow. Specially while casting Knights of the Round. I would take that time to watch the TV or something. When I fought the emerald weapon, it took me about 2 hours to beat it and I was casting Knights of the Round none stop.

When I first played it on my system, I was a P-133 with 48megs of ream, and 2 1-gig HDs. Soon afterwards, (Around the time I was about to reach Fort Condor) I got a Voodoo2. Man, did that ever scream! The GFXs looked 10-times better, and played at REAL speed! (Before I was getting half-full speed on 320x240. Stupid 2meg ATI card!)
Now I'm workin on build a computer that is specifically designed for slower, older games. It'll be a Win98 machine, P-200MMX with a (cringe) Intense Voodoo Rush card (I might put my Voodoo2 in it...), and several other nice things.
All I need now is a power supply and an ATX case for it.

Now that I read, all of these posts right here. I wonder how many of us have played FFVII in really crappy systems?
I know I was one, and I have read that some of you have also played FFVII in slow computers.

Ahh... but more recently, I've played FF7 with my current system, before I went to win2000.
It was AMASING! The only part that was worse was the movies. They still sucked (in terms of quality).

I've played FFVII on P200MMX, 64 MB of RAM, Voodoo 1 Card (combined with 4MB S3Virdge DX/GX), 2.5GB samsung hdd, and Yamaha 3D soundcard. I still have that comp at home and I'm using it to play old (usually dos) games (it is helpfull, because some games don't want to run on geforce, sblive etc). Well it was kinda slow (not all the time, some spells, transitions between screens, ..) but I liked it.

It's not the system, it's the OS. I could have an AT system running WinXP, or a super-powerful 1.7gHz ATX system with a GeForce3 running on DOS and Win3.1. (I doubt I'd find drivers for them, but I COULD do that!)

WOOHOOO!!! I've convinced my brother, to pay £500 on upgrading my computer :grin:
PS Do you think I should wait till the PC's updated to get FFVII or just get it now (It'll probably take him 3 or 4 months to save up.)

According to my dad, ATX cases are only necessary if your motherboard is designed for a Pentium2 class chip or above. AT case should fit perfectly. Now, in response to playing on cheap systems.....
I can beat ye all in crappy FF7 performance! :smile: Please note that my system has been severly upgraded since I first played, so, by all means, READ IT AND LAUGH!!
I first played it on a 233mhz Pentium1 MMX (I'm still using the same processor to this day), with 32megs of RAM, 540 meg hard drive, and (of course) DirectX 5.0; with a corrupted version of DirectMedia installed (but I didn't know it was corrupted until I ran DX diag for the first time).
Now here's the insult to all that injury . I was running it on a 2meg Trident PCI card, which had a nasty habit of SLOWING DOWN the Software rendering, which was my only option. 320X240 was ok, but you could tell you're missing out on something. The config reported the card only passed "8-bit paletted textures"
Sound was terrible. I used SB16 for sound, which meant (shudders with horror) FM synth only for hardware sound! SoftSynth messed up after a sound effect was played. Go thru a door, music studdered until I turned off the game. Also, no hardware Acceleration for sound either. Movies took forever to load.
So, I think I know how quickly a man's pride in his system will be gone when his system has no acceleration at all, and he trys to play a quick game of FF7.
