Yikes! Lighten up guys o.o. Sure, the idea is a tad bit unrealistic, but you don't have to rip the poor fella's throat out for dreaming ^_^.
However, as was stated before a project of this nature would require many, many hours upon hours of work; it is doable in the coding sense, it however is just not overly realistic. I'd say a whole new game (which seems to be the route you are taking now) would be a lot more feasible and cost effective. Also it'd be worth more in the long run, experience wise, at the very least.

Good luck in your endeavors!

if you think this is ripping out throats, you should maybe go to the rougher areas of the internet for a few hours
then you'll realize how incredibly carebearing this forum is.
and, a bit unrealistic? this is the most unrealistic thing I've ever seen proposed in here actually

I don't like encouraging people on stuff they won't be able to do. and no single person will be able to do this

I wouldn't say that it would be impossible. When Q-gears matures, adding a playable field
and new characters would be as easy as adding some scripts and utilizing akari's various importers.
That won't be any time soon although q-gears seems to be picking up some steam.

Q-gears won't be done for another half a decade minimum

technically anything is possible for a game.  when we say impossible it means improbable. all this talk of q gears. its initial purpose is a cross platform game engine to run on any os. the priority isnt mods its getting it to work. once its up in running theyll work on mod compatability and new mods. until qgears is completely set stop assuming qgears is a cureall

I don't mind people not believing in it lol. It only proves how awesome my idea is. :)

That's not how "it proves that it's awesome" works but okay
lets concentrate on the actual awesome
namely, 3D ff6 models
Replacing Cait Sith with Gogo? Oh yeah should totally happen

Uh, you're totally nuts. I wouldn't use this mod in a million years. I'd give you mad kudos if you somehow achieved it, but let's face it--if you start working on this side project, you'll be doing it for yourself because it's want YOU want to do. And that's perfectly fine.
I don't wanna kill your momentum though because you have some skills and I agree with the general consensus that your FF6 models are pretty damn awesome; I'd use those in a heartbeat.

Given the amount of progress over the past year and a half, I would estimate much sooner than that, actually.  :)

then you don't know what you're talking about.

Maybe, im not working on the thing. But leafing through the svn I would beg to differ.
inb4 spreading misinformation

(01:53:15) (@Covarr) Yeah, Q-Gears is probably a good ten years off
(01:53:31) (@Covarr) But even so, the svn would suggest that Akari's been working on it pretty consistently
(01:56:57) (Vgr) >svn
(01:57:05) (Vgr) svn may show it
(01:57:17) (Vgr) it doesn't mean there's any progress
(01:57:20) (Kuugen) sorry but I really couldn't care less about something that will be done in ten years
(01:57:37) (@Covarr) Vgr, it means that he's still working
(01:57:43) (Vgr) I know
(01:57:44) (@Covarr) Whether or not he's accomplishing anything, I dunno
(01:57:51) (@Covarr) But at the very least, he's uploading stuff pretty regularly
(01:57:54) (Kuugen) waiting for q-gears is like waiting for that ff7 remake
(01:58:00) (@Covarr) heh
(01:58:15) (@Covarr) I think people underestimate how long it'll take for q-gears to be complete

just to give an idea.

Somehow related with the monster arena, wouldn't be possible to create a "beastiary" in FF7?
Just like FF6 beastiary in GBA?

It would require a extra line in the game menu (Beastiary) with a list of defeated monsters.
At a first stage we could only have the list. At a second one maybe add the stats of each one:

FFVI_Bestiary_GBA.png

Is this possible to do or would ir require a tremendous amout or work?

everything thats not in the game to begin with requires a tremendous amount of work
new field events with existing opcodes, sure, thats possible and not too hard
for a bestiary, the game would need some kind of function to read out data from either the scene.bin or somewhere else where you would have to manually put the enemy data
then you would need to modify the .exe to allow an extra menu, possibly even create a new opcode to display that menu and then code the entire menu from scratch

read: wont happen

Neither of those two are developing qgears sillypants, we will really just have to wait and see
yeah, but they're pretty active here and at least Corsair has been here for a while. Not to mention he's a mod.
also
(Kuugen) sorry but I really couldn't care less about something that will be done in ten years

Wow, a bestiary, that's a cool idea! Would it be easier if the bestiary is accessible from the main menu (outside of a game) like in the FF ports to ps1?
