Hello.
So, recently, I used 7th Heaven on the 98 PC version of FFVII, on a Vista PC, with 2.7 GB of RAM and a 1.8 GHz CPU (yeah I know it sucks, but oh well)
Whenever, I try to run it, the game starts, and the music plays, with the redone opening credits and save select screen.
However, I get a red message whenever it's supposed to play a movie, it doesn't display, and when I start a new game, the game itself fails to show up. Is there any way I can fix this?
Here are my installed mods, and load order.

did you try to start it without any mod? without the movie mod? same error?

Yes, it has the same error without the movie mod, and when I run it without any mods.

you don't know what this red message tells you? maybe the game converter screwed up? maybe the movie path is not set right.

just to make sure:
go to start -> type in "regedit" and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\GameConverterkeys
does this registry entry exists? is there the correct movie path? there should be an entry called "Actual_MoviePath" with the value "YourFF7Path\data\movies"

There is no Square Soft file in my registry list in WOW6432Node. Should I make one?

ok, questions:

you used the 98 release version and installed it?
if not, did you use the gameconverter to transform your release (steam or square-enix download package) to the 98 one?

I used the 98 PC version, maximum install, and ran the game converter (included with the 7th Heaven tutorial) on it to get the other FF7 executables, for specific mods.

did you encounter any error while running the game converter? did you run it as an admin?
i guess the registry key should be then under Software and not wow6432Node. i am not familiar with vista anymore, so i don't know the full registry path.

i guess thats what i can provide ^^"

I believe it said something about not finding a movies file, but I've found the registry, and it goes to myFF7Path/movies. I'll change it to data and post the results.
EDIT: Unfortunately it didn't work, but the red message on the bottom says it can't open C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII\movies\(movie name).avi

I think I know what the problem is now. I believe the mod is searching for a FF7Path\movies folder without there being one. If this is true, would it be possible for me to fix this by changing the mod path to FF7Path\movies in the workshop and regedit, and making a movies file in the main directory?

Hm, after you ran the game converter, the settings should be already applied in the registry key of the game converter.

I would suggest that you run the game converter once more with admin priviliges and choose uninstall, then install again. Normally, it should solve this problem.

On a similar sort of problem that Jotaro has, do I need to point 7TH Heaven toll to the data\movies or the the movies folder in the FF7 disk I have in my ROM drive to run the movies. I am asking because I selected CH172 remix fmv's but they are not playing still playing the originals.

If the converter did run successfully, data\movies is the right  path, since the registry entries of the converter are the right ones.

Yes, thank you, this worked! For some reason, I must have made the movies folder in the main directory, instead of in data.

can i ask about the movie guys.. where is it located on my system after downloading in 7H? it's working, it's path is data\movies, but when i check the folder, there is no movies, 'coz i want to check the packs? i want to choose the best movie. thanks guys! :)

All the 7H mods are downloaded into the Workshop -> Settings -> Library Location which is ...\mods\7th Heaven as the tutorial setup.

I have the same problems, it tells me to save the movie files in the data\movies folder, but I can't find the files to copy them there.

Where are the movie files located once the mod is downloaded and installed?

The only thing I find in the mods\7th Heaven\ are IRO files.

The movies are in the IROs.
They contain the movies and the information 7thHeaven uses to load them.
Just extract the IRO for the movie mod and place them in the movie folder.

by extract you mean copy-paste the IRO file in the data\movies folder?

because I don't have a program that can extract the content just like I use 7zip or WinRAR for compressed files.
