Hello everyone. I've long been a fan of Final Fantasy and I just recently began learning about 3d modeling. I've been using a program called Blender. I'm getting the hang of it relatively fast. I was wondering if Blender can be used to to model ff7? If not can one of you point me in the direction of a good "all you need" tutorial of sorts? I know nothing about the tools I saw listed. I suppose I could learn but I've no clue where to start. Thanks for your time.

Well it will take some time to learn these stuff when modding for ff7, i would suggest reading through alot of threads in the forums and slowly get to know how the game works and that. I still am no expert but im getting the grips of it which i would like to test out soon in the upcoming holidays, for starts read and check these threads out:
https://www.ff7catalog.com/threads/8759/ (forget the techie number stuff below here no required)
https://www.ff7catalog.com/posts/152289/

Main tools:
Kimera, Pcreator and Blenderor3DSmax (i think there's more) for models play around with em check out the tools section read learn about each program and that:

Also a main tool for extracting those weird .lgp files from battle.lgp etc i recommend you use ULGP forget the others like LGPTools and that here:
https://www.ff7catalog.com/posts/155585/ (get the GUI version)
These files are the bits of models they're like seperated into bits. And here is a spreadsheet showing what each file is like for example Cloud's right arm is 'rtaw':

oh and also have a look here especially my lengthy post here explaining even more lol:

Hope this helped :) remember it will take a bit time to get used to this stuff but eventually you'll get it. i was thinking of making tutorials on youtube but il see.

Very helpful. Thank you.  I had a few of the ones you named. I'm starting to recognize file types and all that....as for modeling I havent even attempted it yet. Figured I should learn my way around before I start chopping things up. Anyway thanks. I shall drink this in.

Heh good to see others find it to good use  ;) if you want more info of this in more detail check out that last link in that post
