The Nigerian government is very upset with Sony after they made a reference to Nigerian email scams in one of their latest adverts. Apparently, Sony has changed the line to a nonsensical one about WWI. As a European, I am very offended by this and demand an apology. :x

You'd have thought that the Nigerian government would have bigger things to worry about; after all, their country has a nominal GDP per capita of $1,500 (compare to around $30,000 - $50,000 in most Western countries), it comes 154th on the UN's Human Development Index and suffers from horrific levels of crime and ethno-religious conflict. Actually, that might be why the government is acting so butthurt; nothing works like creating an external enemy when you want to distract your people from problems at home, as all bad governments know

They say any publicity is good publicity.

Sony shouldn't apologize, whomever writes those fraudulent e-mails should. It IS a fact that it's always Nigeria that's cited in the scams, so Sony didn't lie, or even insinuate anything.

It's as you said, KM. Nigeria's just being a sore-ass.

According to Wikipedia, Sony's total assets are greater than Nigeria's total GDP :-D

They aren't in a position to be demanding things of Sony :-P
