I use emulators a lot, especially, epsxe and snes9x :)

However, I still prefer PC ports to the emulator versions, provided the port was done well or semi-well.

FF7's PC version maybe limited to 640x480 but I use 4X FSAA and it runs without problems for me. Besides, FF7 uses higher resolution textures in the PC version, something that even filtering doesn't help with an emulator.

Unless you use Pete's Hi-res textures (I helped inspire that debate!) :D

I personally use Pete's Plugin's for epsxe.
However, there is a difference between using a high resolution texture and using a low resolution texture with filtering. Even the good filtering techniques such as Eagle and Supersal (Can't remember the names) still can't compare to an original high resolution texture.
If the could then we could just save everything as a low resolution texture, couldn't we?

Ah...true enough....
But what good are h-res textures if they're not in 32-bit colour?

What good is filtering images that aren't 32bit?

Well, see Seph, 32-bit textures in 16-bit colour are likely to have, y'know, colour banding. Plus not ALL of the textures in FF7PC are hi-res enough to be too noticably different.
However, with the emu you can get 32-bit-depth WITHOUT having to worry about the movies messing up.
Oh, they're not so blocky, either.
The only benefit to having the PC version nowadays would have to be the music, if you have a kickass sound card like me. Every song sounds to par or BETTER than the  PSX version...but that's only DMusic with Fice's little player...*sigh*

Ultima: Topics in here have a good chance of straying. As for audio.dat, I'm not sure where you'll find it -- I thought it was on the install disc, myself.

Ultima seems to have gotten ripped off on E-Bay; A lot of the files are corrupted, and it seems like he got a Bootleg, not the actual game.

And you forget one very big advantage to having the PC version;  This forum.  :P  ::editedithax0rcrax0rremake::
