I wonder why it happens every now and then. Rename the "skerb.ex_" file to "skerb.exe", then open install.bat with notepad and change this line:Code: [Select]
Code:
set patcher_file=skerb.ex_
so it looks like this:Code: [Select]
Code:
set patcher_file=skerb.exe
This should do the trick.

And for the backup to work, you have to rename it to "ff7.exe".

I'm still having the exact same issue, and I did exactly as you said...

Are all the files on your CD readable (ie. can you copy them all to the HDD without getting an IO error)?

I have no clue, and not sure how to find out without actually trying to copy them...

What I'm saying is I can't find out without actually trying to copy them...

So, you can't find out if the files are readable by copying, without copying. Sure, that makes sense, but what about acutally trying to do it?

Do you have any other solutions besides that? I might be jumping to conclusions, but I don't want to run the game from directly off my PC, I'd like to run it from the discs...

What is it that's so wrong with copying the discs?  Just copy, see if it copies ok, and once you've done it, delete the files from your HDD.  Simple.

Well, I selected everything and copied disc 2, no errors came up and the movie's all play when I click on them

Which version of FF7 is it? Also, upload your ff7.exe somewhere (pack it first), I'd like to take a look at it.

How do I pack it? I've also never used any uploading sites before so I'm unsure how to go about it, what site would you recommend? I should have 1.02, whichever one Eidos released.

Use ZIP or RAR (google it) to pack the file. Upload site... Rapidshare, FileFactory, Easy-Share (to name the few).

Well, you can send it to my email directly then (you can find my email in my profile). You still haven't said which version of FF7 you have (like Platinum, Asia Pacific etc.), though.

Sure, I even wrote you an email regarding it ~8 hours after you send it. Anyway, you've sent me clean 1.02 ff7.exe, and what I asked for is your ff7.exe (the one you're using).

hmmm, I never got your email, but that is the one I've been using, I think, I haven't played ff7 since the crashes...

Well, I've suggested to use the YAMP MGP patch, and you said you "did exactly as I said" - now you're saying that you've been using the clean version? Jeez...
