Joey, please don't post (any more) bs. A 33.6 modem is SLOW and there's no getting around it...
 
it aint that slow, considering most isps only connect at 43000bps,
so its only say one kilobyte a second behind 56k modem :razz:
and also if u use a good OS then 36k modem can beat a 56k on a windows system.
 
Of course 56k modem is the slowest alternative still available without buying second-hand (well, not quite, but getting there quickly)

Side note: Is noone outside of Norway and Germany using ISDN?

You can get ISDN here but its not very popular as ADSL is faster and easier to set up, also you can use the phone whilst connected to the net which you caant with ISDN if you want full speed
 
Skillster: Yes, but Joey was comparing the 33.6 Modem to ADSL :wink:
 
Joey: I use Modem Booster on my 33.6K and it's not that fast. With Download Accelerator Plus my standard speed is usually around 3.3KB/sec. I wish I had cable.... :weep:
 
Im counting down the days to my 512k modem, but i forget which day its coming :sad:
 
Rates, heh? Well, as for Germany and DSL:

Germans mostly have ISDN, b'cause for DSL, AFAIK, you need special copper wires. So DSL is sth like a beta release here...
If anyone wants higher rates here, the ppl mostly buy ISDN - it's available everywhere in Germany and it's not that expensive as DSL.

As for me: I've got only my 56K...
I've also got a cable connection that's able to transport internet data. So I just needed to buy a cable modem and find a provider, but ... it's quite expensive - and I've got to pay my connection costs from my pocket money :sad:

Heh, my country has the second most expensive internet connection costs in the world, but there is an alternative. There are 3 or four cable tv that provides internet acces via cable modem (and it's fast- always higher than 2.5 Mbit). And costs? It's only about 17$ per month (cable modem is free until you pay those 17$, wen you don't want it anymore, you just have to give the modem back). Nice huh? I'm using one and there is nothing to complain...

Qhimm, I have just noticed a bug in the forum, if you hold your mouse over the PM button it comes up with PM darkness no matter whos its over.
Just thought youd want to know in case it made its way to the final design.
 
I noticed this odd behaviour earlier and tracked down the bug. It will definitely not appear in the final design ^^
