I promised a pic of my desktop after I got OS X up and running on my EeePC, and here you go

Now my only problem is getting FF VII up and running on here.  I tried Winebottler, and it started the setup app, but I got no graphical output, so I think I'm going to build my own version of WINE, and if that doesn't work... well, I have a 2 TB external, so I guess I'll just linux that up a bit

darwin ports should help you compile your own version of wine.
I was just gonna use MacPorts, but I'll look into Darwin Ports.  I'm gonna guess they're virtually the same with just some aesthetic changes.  I could also use Fink if I so chose.  I'm still nervous though, because the pre-compiled didn't run right.  It may be the pre-compiled binary, or my OS, or my hardware in combination with the OS

EDIT: upon further research, they are one and the same, the project just changed it's name to Macports.

Also cleaned up my desktop alot!
(FFVII's not on there cause I haven't been playing it recently)

Hey, offtopic, but I figured out why I couldn't get graphical output with Winebottler...  I forgot to install X11

oh yea well you need to do that.., still off topic,i installed rekonq the new kde based web browser wow its fast!

hrm, I'm gonna be tri-booting fairly soon (haven't had the motivation to not use OS X yet)

Also: FF VII update, on OS X with my hardware, the driver doesn't like to work.  When I get around to installing Linux, I'm gonna give it a shot.  I dunno if I wanna go with Ubuntu for simplicity, or Gentoo for having it run well

what kind of video card does that badboy have>? ff7 works decently on my netbook (in all its 1024*600 glory), but only if u use aali's driver, with out it wine doesn't like to work w/ ff7. my netbook has an intel 945GM chipset for video, using the i915 video Xserver driver. running kubuntu 10.04 on that thing.

It has an Intel GMA950 according to the System Profile I believe, it might be a 940 or 945, according to CCleaner when I used Windows, I don't remember.  I think it's more an OS X on a Netbook issue than it is a FF VII/Aali's Driver issue.  OS X's windowing system isn't X, so I have to run X11 on top of it, and then the driver, I just don't think the video memory is there.  I'll just get it up and running on Linux whenever I bother to do that

Not a desktop, But I found it funny enough to show you people!

Well, after fiddling around a lot, I figure I should show you all the current status of my desktop, as well as explain Some of what I had to go through to get to this point.

1) Danger Mouse icons, F*CK YEAH

2) In the upper right hand corner, notice the battery icon, volume icon, airport icon, and blue dude with angry eyes

  • Battery fully working, correct percentage detection, and accurate time remaining, achieved using a custom DSDT patch, something everybody should have anyway, since they are system specific, but some people still have problems with this model netbook, and battery.
  • Sound fully working with the VoodooHDA kernel extension.  Only issue is playback is slow and choppy if I boot without the AC adapter plugged in
  • Airport - Stock wifi card fully working, thanks to the IONetworkingFamily.kext and IO80211Family.kext from the upcoming 10.6.5 update, meaning this wifi card will be working from the moment you install OS X soon
  • Just a personal touch, that's InsomniaX, a program that disables sleep-on-close, a feature I never use, because my computer is my alarm clock, and if I left it open, chances are I'd punch the screen when I woke up

3) The About This Mac dialogue, this shows that I am running 10.6.4 on an Atom-based Netbook, Atom support was removed from the Kernel in 10.6.2, I use Meklort's Netbook Installer, which has a custom bootloader, to patch the Atom support back into the Kernel on boot.  I hate the bootloader, but it does the job (not as customizable as the main branch of the bootloader he applies patches to)

4) The system profiler, it shows my Model Name as "Mac" and Model Identifier as "1005HA".  1005HA is the model of EeePC I have.  I once tried to get the system profiler to display that, and nearly borked my system.  I installed Meklort's NBI, and it did it right away.  Now that it does display it, I liked it better when it said I had a Macbook.

Sorry for the disorganization, I'm tired, and rant-y

That's why they're my icons.  It was before my time, but both my brothers watched it, and then made me watch it when I came around

Well, I'ma have a new picture in a few days, probably tomorrow, I installed the 10.6.4 update, and patched the kernel so it'd actually run...  Now games like Postal 2 or The Sims 2 no longer run, SOOOO, reinstall I shall.  I'm probably going to do it early in the morning.  Shame is, it's running BEAUTIFULLY, save for that problem.  There may also be something I'm completely missing here, complete re-install should take care of that either way.
