Hi, I'm residing in Singapore and i just bought ff7 due to the love of the game and must of hesitation

I played in on ps and now was hopping to play on pc again.

after inserting installation disk and clicking on the install link in the welcome screen. nothing happen. Just like it woun't start installation.

May 1 know wats is the problem? Do i have to install win95 just to play the game?

I'm running winxp pro with sp2, intel p4.2.4 and ati 9100.

pls help.  :isee:

Looks like a bad install CD to me ... try copying everything from CD to harddrive and installing from there...

Addition information i like to add.

I checked from my system task manage and there are 2 process running.
1. wowexec.exe
2.ff7inst.exe

and when i try to terminate the process
'windows 16 sub system might be unstable..blah blah'

thanks for reading again. hope it can help

Ummmss.. seems a similar problem to me. I end FF7, but the process is still there. I installed the game, and reinstaled again. And now works ok. Try uninstall the game, also, try RegCleaner to erase everything related to FF7 in windows register

well, he can try that. Nothing to loose. (again, i had the same problem with ff7 in memory when the game was closed, wxp pro)

So, something is installed on system.

i know your point. But *maybe* the install make some changes into register.

Yeah wowexec.exe provides support for 16bit applications I think.. so you don't wanna go disableing it.

Is your copy of FFVII a legitimate copy of the game?

Try Windows Compatibility Mode.

Yah. my copy of FF7 is orginal~ can't find a priated old games theses days too.
wat is windown xp compability mode?
how do i go there?

i did try to set the installer to run in win95 by changing the setting in the property tags. din  work too. :isee:

Do you think it is possible to manually install the game by copying files?
Looking at my FF7 install folder, it looks like most of this stuff is just sitting there on the CD :P  (I have the "platinum" edition CD, so I guess it could be different on the other one... my CD also has the 1.02 patch on it in an "Updates" folder, kinda neat.)
And then you'd have to configure the registry as well.  Someone could export the registry settings for him.

Anyway, if you wanna try this, create a folder FF7 on your C drive so that you have C:\FF7.

Copy the "data" folder from your FF7 install CD-ROM to this location.
Create a new empty folder called "save" (I think the game will do this for you, actually).

So now you have c:\FF7\data (which has lots of stuff in it) and c:\FF7\save.

Then copy these files from the CD to your FF7 folder:
cdcheck.exe
EIDOS.url
FF7 PC manual.rtf
FF7 ReadMe.txt
ff7.exe
FF7Config.exe
ff7dll.dll
Register.url
SFMAN for AWE32,64 ReadMe.txt

Then take this registry file and import it into your registry.  Then go to regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII
Look on the right, and change the "V" in anything that starts with "V:\" to your CD-ROM drive letter.

The game should now be "installed."  Use FF7Config.exe to configure and ff7.exe to play.

[Edit] Fixed broken registry file link.

problems after problem...
now i mange to install FF7 and got it to run.
but i don see any of its starting videos like the moving squaresoft logo.
all i got is a black screen and only buy pressing ESC i get to the
'New Game'
'Continue' screen.

any idea wats the problem? and wat can i do to get it to work?

Thanks again guys.

That happens when it can't find the videos.  It should be able to find them assuming you have disc 1 in.  Which you would need since it can't run without it.  You wouldn't happen to be using a no-cd crack or something would you?

It's because you copied everything to the HDD and installed it *manually* without installing the codecfor the videos. Would help you but I can't remember where to get a working copy of Duck Trumotion Video codec.

Try the eidos site and get the upside-down video patch.  That comes with all the nessicary (i kant spel) codecs, anyway, i'm sure.

oh, just thought of something: Make sure in the registry, that the MoviesPath is either pointed to where you isntalled the movies on your HD (if you did) or its pointed at your cd rom.

I copied all the 4 disk on my hdd.
I have change the registry to datadrive to C.
I read up about something about no diskcrack.
does anyone knows where i can dl it?
and i notice my movie path in the register point to a folder which doesn't exist. cout it be that problem?

Thanks again..for all who bothersss
