Playing ff7 on steam and almost done with the game. Got the final attack materia, and noticed later that my counter materia was erased. Will this program help me get it back?

Would be a pretty shitty save editor if you were not able to.

Crashing when opening a New Threat 2.0 save. An earlier save file loads, but my endgame save file crashes the program whenever I try to open it

If you send me your save ill take a look. Depending on what things the mod is changing i might be able to fix it.

Hi there!
Great tool, does it support PS5 save editing now/future?
It will support the PS4 format (also playable on the ps5) when i get around to doing the file support and implementing the decryption parts. (help is welcome i have a draft on the ff7tk repo for some time).  Also Idk that you can copy saves off of  a ps5 anymore.

I am also having the same issue. Same mod (New Threat 2.0) and also on Disc 3 just before entering the crater. Crashes on load of save.

I'm going to put this here for anyone who has been having issues loading their New Threat 2.0 (my version is 2.099994) saves: download version 1.14.0 of Black Chocobo. For whatever reason, this build does not crash on opening the saves I had issues with on 1.16.0 and 1.15.0(1).

Hi,

Can anyone let me know if Black Chocobo can meet my needs for the following scenario, and if so, how?

I recently used the Steam console to re-lock all of my achievements for FF7 with intent to play through it again. I should have thought first about how this is a unique game where it seems like both achievements and cloud saves are actually synced to Square Enix's servers, and then sent to Steam. When I booted up FF7, all of my achievements instantly unlocked again:

This is either due to:

Steam reading from Square Enix's achievement servers and syncing with those

Steam reading from my save data and syncing achievements with that
My guess would be #1. So, my first question is: Can Black Chocobo help me delete my synced achievements on the Square Enix servers? It's really bad that all of my achievements now show the same minute as their unlock time, because achievement aggregators and leaderboards are going to view that as me being a cheater, using some tool like Steam Achievements Manager, and I'm not.

My second question: Can Black Chocobo in some way assist me with totally deleting (not just overwriting) my save files? I used Square Enix's cloud syncing, so all of my save files are in the cloud, and I don't see anywhere to access or delete them on my local system. Is there some way I can start fresh without any save files?

Thank you, and sorry for my inexperience.

#1 you can try to edit your achievements and remove them using the achievement editor
#2 you can make try making a new cloud save folder and that should replace your previous one.

The issue is that new threat creates materia above the value that the game uses (i.e id above 90 ) bc dont' know what todo with that id

Can Black Chocobo add new materia that were created by mods?

When opening a New Threat 2.0 save, I see that when it encounters a materia it doesn't recognize, it just says its ID (for example, 0x42 for Osmose). But it doesn't let me create a materia with arbitrary ID.

I want to add Postscriptthree's Tweaks Morph As Well. I have the materia enabled in the mod, but I have no mod that actually create it in game (I'm trying to find out its ID, but even if I find it I don't know to make Black Chocobo add a materia by ID)

Maybe I need to use the hex editor?

Yes you can enable the full range of items and materia in the setting under editing enable the "Show placeholders in Materia and Items Lists" option. While you will not be able to see the names you will be able to pick the unused ids and add them to your materia / item "inventory"

i've tried using this to boost my character levels from 9 or 10 to the 38-40 range, just to make things go easier/faster. however it seems like something causes my game to crash. i edit the file & save it. then i load the game and load the save file. after a few seconds of playing, the game crashes to a black screen and gives me this pop up

but the log file is empty

Hi I'm wondering if this tool can solve a problem for me. I'm recording a playthrough for a youtube video. Last night I did the entire crater section where Cloud hands over the black materia and we first see Zack, you know really important stuff for covering the game's narrative. I foolishly overwrote my save from the start of the session and when I checked the footage the screen recorder had bugged and only recorded audio with a black screen.  My plan is to back up the save and continue for now. But when I'm finished I'm wondering if I can use this to roll back the save or create a save that starts in the crater before the wind maze?  The only other save I have is way back n disk one before the Cetra temple and I did a lot of limit break grinding in that time.

Hello everyone. Black Chocobo seems like a great tool. Does anyone know if it internally marks PlayStation .mcd save files in any way? In other words, if I were manually editing a save file that had already been edited by Black Chocobo, would I be able to see any  indication that the save had been previously edited?

Why are you asking ?
