The saves from Remastered FF8 and Steam original version are different files. I wonder if Hyne works on FF8 Remastered save files.
Don't know without a copy of a save,  if you have one post it maybe it works maybe it can be made to work who knows.

I have loaded Remastered version and the continue option gives no save files saved, the Steam original version saves doesn't read in FF8 Remastered. Because this I concluded the savefiles in FF8 original and Remaster are different files.

The original steam save files work with the remastered version.

Hyne works fine with FF8 Remaster, files are in [...]\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered\Steam\[...]\game_data\user\saves directory.
I don't know yet how cloud saves work with this version.

does it work with remastered ps4? Trying to check it out if i can use it.
Can anyone confirm if i can open a ps4 format save for remastered?

with the ps4 save file, it won't load on hyne.
on the other hand, if i try make a new save file, and overwrite the ps4 save, it corrupts the save.
tried many trials and errors here, still no good.
any ideas?

It also does not work with the Switch version save file either. Would be amazing if this could happen for Switch and PS4. I can supply a Switch save if needed.

I can confirm that the switch save files are also different for the remaster.

They are 11kb vs the original steam versions 3kb
In a hex editor there seems to be 4 extra bytes at the beginning of the file. I noticed similar byte patterns between the two.

I have uploaded a save file to my server andrewfaulkner[DOT]com[DOT]au/downloads/ff8/ff8slot00 the file has no extension
I started the game, and saved at the first checkpoint after showing Selphie the directory board, and did not get the cards of the dude near the elevator.

Just discovered this after googling how to ironically improve the graphics on the "Remaster".

I am sure those mods will follow, but I am over the moon that I will not have to look at Squall's ugly ass costume again. I always wished he could permanently wear his SeeD outfit. Thank you very much.

Someone on another forum posted this, if it provides any help.

Switch saves and PC saves of the remaster are identical.
the difference is, pc stores some data external, while on Switch it's build into the save.

to convert a Switch save to PC:

- open ff8slot00 with a hex editor
- look at the first 4 bytes, it tells you how big the save is
- select 0x04 - length from the first 4 bytes (example: first 4 = 0x8D4, then select 0x4 - 0x8D7)
- save the selection as a new file with the extension ".ff8"

then you can open the switch save with Hyne.
the reverse also works, but you need to calculate the first 4 bytes after editing.

I've been playing around with Hyne for a while, and it has a lot of neat stuff, however I'm super annoyed with a certain part of FF8 remaster,  losing the sacred card to the queen in dollet she moves to Galbadia every time...

Looking in Hyne the Triple Triad>rules section under Misc...
Last region visited is Galbadia
C.Queen - Dollet
...and then the region was Galbadia, but I changed this to Balamb to hopefully force her to move there.

Nothing I do actually makes her say moving to Balamb.  I doubt anything I'm doing ingame is changing the rng counter, as im in Dollet Pub (move/find save point)

I'll admit I'm not using Hyne 1.9.3 but 1.9.2c but surely that cant be it ?

Not sure how i would actually get intouch with the the person who made it or anyone who would go through the trouble for adding Nintendo switch version of the save.
So i ask does anyone know if this is going to compitabale with the nintendo switch save with hexing or changing bytes ect.

I have been hex editing saves from PC/Steam/PS1 to the switch over at GBATemp.

You might want to look into Cheat Engine. There's a cheat table out on the fearless revolution website for Cheat Engine that has a Queen of Cards location in it. I'm not linking it because I don't know the rules of providing links to third-party websites, but you can Google "Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Cheat Table DrummerIX" and (currently) it is the first link. Using that should edit where she is in-game instead of relying on the save editor.

Since they used the weird emulation I'm assuming they kept the save structure the same. If that's the case there shouldn't be a difference in the save file for the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, or PC versions.

any help regarding to remastered for ps4?
The short answer is No. The more technical answer is the saves for ps4 are wrapped in encryption and that needs to be removed before the saves can be edited. The ps4 copies are the same as the PC versions.
As for switch (at least for ff7) it was trivial to add support to Black Chocobo as its just a pc save w/ the name flipped around . I have not looked into ff8 but i would think its very similar. @Myst if you need any help there lmk

Ehh crud i meant to say without hex editing or messing with the save file first.

So the question is will hyne ever be compatiable without any fiddling about, on the switch version.

Just used this to get some missed GF draws (argh), I wanted to say this is program is thorough and cosmetically amazing. What is your background in comp sci skills to make such a thing?
