Quake II Source code released....

They released it now? Hm ... and I though it was released a long time ago, since Quake ]|[ Source was released long ago ...
However, fine they did it.
And of  course, it'd be fine if other companies did that, too, but if every company would do this, people like me, Fice, Qhimm, SaiNt, halkun and a lot of others had no work :D

Its not as if you've completely dissasembled ff7 is it?
It would help you guys immensly if Square did release ff7's source.
 
Alhexx, you're confusing the source code to the game engine with the source code to the game "scripts". Id has always released the scripts that control the game to all of their Quake's, as soon as the game's out. That's how you make mods. That's *not* the same as releasing the whole source to the engine. Although people do call both the "source code" so I can see why people confuse the two...
 
ant: yea it would be great to have Black&White's source.(this is what your refering to right?) you could get rid of thoes damn helper's for a start, cept when they hold invaluable clues. and you could have you creatures fall in love and have little creatures, then there would be gender disabalities, pms STD's. hehe it would be great. oh and the Q2 code had been out for AGES. maybe not leagaly and not so straight forward but it was avaliable.

A decompiled version of the binary isn't exactly helpful.
