Question about trainers.....

first off, i want to say that I'm new. hello everyone! i've been visiting the site on ocasion for the past 4 years. I also own Final Fantasy VII for the pc. Anyway i hope to get to know all of you. :D

my question is about trainers... I know  I know. They are dreaded and evil. But, they are fun to use after you've beaten the game lots of times. i would like to note the fact that I did a search before I wrote this post. Anyway unto the question: i have FF7 patched. Is there a way to have any of the trainers out there work? for example the trainer FF7-Trn2 doesn't read anything when you want to freeze and unfreeze the things. other tariners don't work. If someone knows of a way i can fix this, or a trainer that works with the patched version of FF7, your help is greatly appreciated. Thnx in advance.
 
Welcome to the forums Alucard256. I'm somewhat new myself. Just read the rules, don't do anything obviously stupid, [search] the forums frequently and (IMHO) you should do fine. :wink:

If someone knows of a way i can fix this, or a trainer that works with the patched version of FF7...

I know what you mean! I haven't found any trainer that works either! Some have suggested not to patch the game at all. Assuming your FF7 will startup at all, it should work; all though you will have to put up with the frequent glitches. (Refer to the Game Tweaking forum for help with that.)

Now, I read that the Chocobo patch prevents trainers from working because it modifies the ram data (or something like that). Oddly, I never found that said for the 1.02 patch. Never bothered trying it on 1.02, without the C.P., though. Might be worth a shot? :erm:

yep i use the jenova save editor. it's pretty darn cool.  i use the other one so i can get past certain places quiker. Example: Northern Crater. there's like a random battle every 2 steps. lol. anyway, i used the 1.02 patch but to no avil. And get this, for some reason, when i re-installed ff7 original after uninstalling ultima edition, it acts like it's patched! so now matter what i do now, the trainers read my version 1.0 as the win xp version. i asked this question on the game tweaks section of the forum so i'm awaiting and answer. but i just thought i tell you guys in case some poor soul out door is going through the same problem.
 
I don't know but have you beaten the game without trainers yet?
Cause I had a lot more fun and a better feeling afterwards, when I played without trainers. You can be more proud of yourself.

But, and I will not deny, sometimes they can be damn handy.

I say: keep searching, and just try em. There a plenty of sites where you can get them. And again Google's your friend. (Not my line, I know)

I've beat the game meny times as well. In fact, I am neurotically obsessive about keeping my "First Time Through" as original as I can. No cheats, no name changes, no hints, guides... you get the idea. I think my last completed game was #7.

Cause I had a lot more fun and a better feeling afterwards, when I played without trainers.

I agree. 8) The only use I find for trainers is the EXP + AP boost after battles. For me, gameplay turns 'dull' around the RocketTown/Temple missions because I'm forced to LVL up (sooner-or-later). The trainer allows me to play the game straight through, without a sudden and unusual jump in my character's level and abilities. Plus, by the end of the game, I would have learned most abilities (so I wouldn't need to worry about it).

Of course, other people see it as "been there, done that" kind of thing, and instead they just want to kick ass from begining to end. I mean, who hasen't started (for example in contrast to FF) a GTA game and didn't ever cheat? So, sooner or later, why not FF7?

I just find the traditional Leveling Up / Random Encounters combo to be 'un-natural', as to strengthening the characters and the progression of the story. For example, let’s say I go through a normal game and beat ALL bosses (including side-quests). By the time I beat the last boss, I should be 'all powerful', correct? But this just isn't the case in FF7. It strongly depends on your 'random encounters'. On the other hand, I can stay in the 1st Reactor mission (till the end of time) and, through repetition, become all powerful by fighting mini-rocket launcher things. But how could you become all-powerful without ever fighting a single boss? And with only weak-simplistic enemies! See my point? With a trainer boosting my EXP and AP at a reasonable amount, such things wont cross my mind. Ya I know…, I think too much. :P

Ok, I'm getting a little too in-depth and starting to stray off-topic, so I'll shut up.

PS: Hope you don't think I 'ragged' out your post, Emerald. It (unexpectedly) gave me a few things to think about. :)
 
lvling yourself is part of the game though i spent maybe an hour or 2 lvling at low lvl in junon hehe gotta love the alarm... but yea i owned the game didn't hardly lvl up at all after that until i went to beat the weapons then i got cloud 93 tifa 91 and nanaki 91 and owned them too lol. you don't need trainers i mean i guess in my oppinion they ruin the game.. lvling up is part of the experience. 1st 2nd 3rd.... 24th etc time i've played this game too many times to count never used a trainer once guess i just beleive in doin things the old fashioned way lol. but to each their own....
 
lol i got lsot the first time you go into the overworld (right after you leave midgar first time) and so i played in that area for the longest time, and all ym cahracters were like lvl 30 at least ebfore going into the mithril cave thing with the giant snake
