New Menu Portraits

Haven't Yet tested in game, but here's the file, read the readme in the zip archieve for help on installing.

Added extras:

- Zack

well as for yuffie... i couldn't find any good shots of her, so i merged 2 pictures's together haha
 
If you saw wuz and mine 's topics, you could have see it's difficult to find good shots...

If find Vincent pretty good though...

since someone (dont remember who sorry, no credit) figured out proper colour palette i feel inclined to redo my set.

though i don't have the source images anymore (screencaps from advent children), I would have to start from scratch.
heres my set for reference, not sure if it's worth the effort to redo...

Yeah i'll just leave them, people can find a combination of all the different sets if they want.

I think despite the improvements i could make they don't actually look that bad in game, except for cait sith but i have to say i don't give a crap about him :)

I love your Cloud and Sephiroth
I think Sephi would be best turned the other way (that could be done in Photoshop, after having extracted the bmp from LGP, but i would lose quality, except if like me you just package icons? )

that cloud is from the dvd cover i believe it was, well i remember it was from some cover.

the whole picture of that image also has barret on the right hand side and cid, on the left.

Yeah that's why it's not the same quality... It's not a film screenshot, but was on an advert found in a website  :-D

So Weemus, how are you? Still overbooked by your exams?  :evil:
 
i'm good, just tired, exams over for some time now, i haven't done much work haha but, i did manage to convert a kh2 yuffie onto ff7, only problem is, the chest and legs are invisible, so i'll be remaking it again next time, looks fine in kimera though  :-D
 
hey im wondering (im not sure if there is a topic or not that talks about this) but how big do the avatar pictures of cloud and co. have to be? im just wondering because i made one for the cloud that i made for ff7 (looks almost like him) and im wondering what size does it have to be to fit in the game?

Explanation: Take a fresh scrennshot in jpg format, open it with a picture editor, crop 84*96 pixels, and paste this part in a white 128*128pixels picture.
EDIT: The 84*96 pixels must be in top left corner if i remember right
Save in jpg.
Open with PhotoShop, save for web, Gif 256 colors.
Open the new gif with PC, save as, BMP, 8 Bits.

Now you have a new file 8 bits, with no loss.

It should be explained in my thread too ....

Use LGPtools, and right clic on a character's pic (use preview to make sure who's who, as their names are messed up) and select "replace" then take your own with correct size ...

Instructions:
Unpack the archive with AlZip/WinZip/WinRar .
Open your Menu_us.lgp with LGPTools, and simply right click on any of the characters names (see below) in menu-us.LGP to Replace them (with right click) with the appropriates included in this archive. No need to convert these BMP 8bit to tex, LGPTools handle this alone.

Advantage: You can choose wich one you want (from me or Wuz) , if you want to keep the originals you also can. Or take some portraits made by Wuz and me and let some originals too ... YOU decide what to do . In fact i first made an auto install but there was errors...

menu_us.lgp names from left to right: (.tex)
cloud, barre, tifa, earith, red, ketc, cido, bins, yufi, pcefi, pcloud, choco.

Not to be rude or as an attempt to sound smart, but IMO the original avatars looks much better. No matter what char.LPG you may use. Nice work however. Fun to watch!!
 
Great work everyone!
In my opinion:
- Cloud's best pics are the ones by Djé and Wuz (too bad for the few colors).
- Barret's best pics are the ones by little-hollow and Djé
- Tifa's best pics are the ones by Wuz (the first one) (again, too bad for the few colors) and little-hollow.
- All Aeris pictures look good, but I like best the ones she looks left.
- Wuz's Red XIII looks really the best!
- I hate Caith Sith, but Djé's and Wuz's ones are quite good.
- Cid looks best in weemus' pic.
- Vincent always looks good! Weemus' version is a bit more interesting.
- little-hollow has the best shot of Yuffie imo.
- Finally, I like Wuz's Young Cloud and Sephiroth.

If it doesn't take too much time I may think on getting the best from each one ^_^
