Remake Project Story Ideas

Perfect, it fits right into what I had in mind.

This is what I was thinking:

The game could start before Sephiroth is born, and we could see Vincent as a Turk.  By the time that Sephiroth is born, Vincent is already shot by Hojo.
There is something also that I would suggest, even though it would be kinda difficult to pull off.  When Sephiroth is grown, Vincent would wake up from his sleep.  He can't rest in peace because there is something bothering him about Sephiroth.  Vincent knew about the experiment that Hojo was doing, and he has a bad feeling about Sephiroth's powers.  Vincent then just follows Sephiroth to keep an eye on him.  After Sephiroth is presumed dead, then Vincent goes back to his sleep until he is woken up by Cloud's team.
I need to play the game again to make sure that my idea doesn't mess up with the Original FFVII story.

Sephiroth3D:   I totally agree on you with the idea of using different characters.  In FF VI it was done a lot, and it worked perfectly fine.

That's a great idea, but... it won't work. Remember that Vincent is punishing himself for letting Hojo ruin Lucreica's life. Also remember that Hojo locked that door, then placed the key in a safe.

True, Vincent could probably get out, but why would he go back? More over, how would he re-lock the door?

I'm sorry, but your idea just won't work.

True, I forgot about that.  That is why I was saying that it would be difficult to pull off.  I can't remember much of FFVII, and that is why I need to play the game again.  But even if Vincent is no longer available when he is shot, he could be available before that.  And for Vincent's heartbreaking story I have some pretty neat ideas.  By the way, is there any program to convert analog sound into midi?  I was thinking of probably doing a modified version of the "Nightmare" midi (the one that is played on the Shin-ra mansion's basement) with my guitar.  I downloaded the tabs for that tune, and it sounds cool in guitar.  I'll do a sample, and try to post it somewhere.

Sorry, but that's impossible. MIDI is a representation of music, not an actual music file. It contains info that is decoded by software & your sound card in order to generate music. It makes the music different for each system.

The way around that is the use of SoundFont files. I'm going to assume you know what those are, and not bore you with a long explination of what they do.

Recording the file as a waveform then converting it to a more internet-friendly format, such as a MP3, ensures that it will sound identical each time someone hears it. (That's not including differences in speaker systems.)

PS: Post # 250!!

Haven't been here in a while, I was sick like a puppy.  I hope that this message doesn't get deleted because of the server change.  Anyways.

Sephiroth3D:  I know that you can't make up a midi from a sound file like .wav.  The thing I was saying is that if there could be a program that could take samples from the .wav files and use those samples to make a midi.  I know I would have to get the appropriate SoundFont files to make it sound like a real guitar.  But the thing I was saying is that I don't have any device to create a midi, not even a keyboard.  Just my good old guitar.  Midis could sound very different on different computers or with different SoundFont files, but they would all have the same tune, won't they.  The midi for Stairway to Heaven will always have the same tune, even though it sounds like it is played by a piano or guitar.  I don't deal much with multimedia, and I wouldn't know if there is such program that could do what I said it would do.  I mean, some people don't even know that there are programs that help you recover files from a formatted disk.

Well then, enough said, the song is not so hard to learn, but I want to play it without difficulty.  When I record it, I will post the MP3 somewhere in the Internet.

In order to make MIDI files you need something that'll connect to the MIDI-IN (otherwise known as the joystick port  ) on your sound card, generally that means a keyboards. Only other option is to use computer keyboard/mouse .... not very fun.

fice, you said the Remake's gonna support MP3 etc. right? Well I've been playing the guitar for 3 years now, and I've got all the appropriate programs to make a guitar and other live instrumental recordings sound good, like Sound Forge, Cubase, Vegas, etc. So if vvalentine recorded himself playing the tune, maybe I could do some backing parts and add some orchestral parts if you like,  using high quality SFs to make it a great sounding MP3 remix. Then if you're gonna make FMV sequences (Sephiroth3D?) you could add it to one based on Vincent.
Or vvalentine could send me his recording and I could write a MIDI from it.
What do you say?

Um. Speaking as the engine programmer, the engine supports MP3s. That's a bit different to "the final game will includes MP3's in it". We may want to stick to MID's for filesize purposes. Then again, maybe not ... it's something the project team needs to decide.

That is a great idea eerrrr.  I have been playing the guitar close to 6 years, but I haven't played much lately.  I am practicing to get my skill back, but I don't get too much time to play.  So everyday I am practicing 30 minutes to an hour.  I have learned most of the song in the guitar, but there are some difficult parts that I need to master in order to play very well.  The thing that I was thinking is that Vincent Valentine should play the guitar.  Guitar players are usually loners and when they are depressed they play the guitar.  That fits for me and VIncent Valentine.  There should be a scene where Vincent is depressed (after proposing to Lucrecia), and he goes to his room (In Shin-ra mansion, where he is staying with Hojo, Gast, and Lucrecia) and plays the guitar.  The MP3 then could come into place.

eerrrr:   I could play the guitar part, but there are other things that need to be added to the tune.  Maybe we could do other tunes too.
