Hmm..well cyb...I assume that Cid lives for a LONG time after FF4. The entire world's continents change during his lifetime..haha yeah right. Oh yeah, not to mention that during this, the world
gets split into two worlds
. Just because a name pops up in two games in a row doesn't mean it's the same guy.

By the way, Cid created ONE ship in FF5..the
steamship
. If he even WAS the same Cid from FF4, he already would have built airships in that game by then. But NO! Cid and
his grandson, Mid, discover an ancient airship with the main character and his friends. Cid DOESN'T invent airships in FF5, he discovers them. With that knowledge, he combines the broken airship with the old steamship to create a cooler airship that can travel air and sea

The only..and I mean ONLY way that those two games are related are by the
crystals
. I'm thinking that after FF4, the people in FF5 take the
crystals
and start
draining power from them
. Of course, notice the size difference between the
crystals
of FF4 and FF5. I don't see it happening, Man.

[EDIT] on another note: I think this is what Square was really aiming for in paine's attitude. I apologize if anyone finds this offensive.

Grr.  The most crappy "FF" game ever made.  It's not even Final Fantasy... it's just "FF".  The "FF" means Freaking Frat.  So Freaking Frat Xetreme and Freaking Frat Xtreme Two.  Yes she does look like Squall in high heels.  And no that's not a good thing.  And yes that picture with the Mestrual Paine is just awesome!

Her hair is kind of like Squalls  too.. I am not sure what they are thinking maybe they can sell more games? They sure as heck can't call it FF11  ;)
I might buy it.. but I would like to see reviews. Especially after seeing FF11 and nearly being sickened by it.  It's not FF .. I think they would have been wiser calling it FF Online instead of FFXI.

Cyb, why did you quote me and not write about it? Now the spoiler censors are all smudged out. Someone might be able to see the spoilers now.

However, I don't think Square's (first, is it?) attempt to make an online RPG really belongs to the Final Fantasy franchise. I think they were trying to cash in on an already popular game to make even more money off of it. They could have made a different name for the game, maybe, and started their own online-only franchise. If the game is made by Square, I am right there to play it.

Of course, that depends if I own a console to play it  -_-
 
They actually probably re-used old sprites from FF4 for certain Jobs in FF5, but other than that, those two games are WAY off from eachother.

They may have re-used Cain's sprite for Butz as a dragoon.  The two of them are nearly identical.
 
The FF series has re-used Sprites (as well as editing old ones) since the Sequal.
...They continue to re-use char models. Notice how the Ralph looks like Seifer, and General Heim (I know it's the movie, go away) is a clone of him sans scar and with black hair.
Or the re-use of FF sprites to other games (notable the SaGa and Mana series)
 
i think the covering spoilers thing is kinda .. well alright nevermind i will leave it alone.. i guess someone could show up that hasnt played FF4 or 5 or any.. .. eh..
 
Yeah, I guess the spoiler censors are a bit ugly, and in some ways pointless for the older FF's. There are some people that haven't played those games yet, so I'm just being considerate. I have alot against people who spoil stuff for no reason and out of nowhere. This doesn't just apply to games, though. People have spoiled entire books for me in the middle of an unrelated conversation  -_-
 
Hmmmm... spoilers.. I've never really been that big on them  :)
Although if I know how the story ends.. it never changes how much I enjoy the game to be honest.  If the game has a good enough story it should survive with or without spoilers.

Back to the subject I was going to comment on it but your picture just was too much not to comment on and by the time I was done with that I didn't really see the point and I was being lazy :)

FF recycles a LOT of things.. for example summoning.. Shiva Ifrit etc.. all of these are in the FF's :)  I didn't see Odin.. oh well I guess wait for the interactive movie FFXII? :)

Rumor has it that FF12 won't be out this year...wonder if it's true....
 
I hope it won't be out this year - I'm tired of them churning out FF's just to feed the masses. I hope they spend time putting a lot of work on the graphics and scenes (to make them more varied than FF8/10's) but, more importantly, the storyline to give us a decent FF.
 
Paine so totally sucks! She is so damn ugly. Rikku rules. Nevertheless though FFX-2 is gonna rock, at least I hope so!
 
Don't revive old topics unless you have something meaningful to say that warrants it. Sadly, a personal opinion on long-gone topics do not count as 'meaningful'.
 
Though I did get a bit of a shock to see a Thread created by Joey at the top of the page then...
