I recently decided to replay this after many years. I remember getting some great patches and mods from this forum and I'm glad to see it's been kept up!

Anyway, after I finally dug the game out of my closet and installed, it wouldn't load after the aforementioned screen. I remembered it not being that simple a few years back, so I lurked around the internet(mostly here) for a solution.

I applied the 1.02 patch, the latest Aalia custom driver(it doesn't need the game saves, right?) and even tried to skip the FMV using Gypinstant and YAMP(although I'm still not sure I'm doing it right) in case that was the problem.

Here's my specs:

Windows 7 X64

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
        4400+ 2.20 GHz

Ram: 4 GB

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4600

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

i also had this problem, with windows 7 u need to download the truemotion 2 codec (google). also when installing aalis driver u need to follow the directions exactly. u need the saves and the input.

oh! and when u download aalis custom driver u have to disable texture compression

If you are using Aali's driver, you do NOT need any external codecs. Nor do you absolutely need to disable texture compression, unless you are using mods that change textures.

Your APP.LOG would be appreciated.

Thanks! I downloaded the codec and it seems to be running smooth now! I had the Aalia driver installed before I had game saves and it seemed to work, I'm using the "custom driver" option in FF7 Config. Does that mean it's working, or should I do a reinstall to be safe? If the game is running at all that means I'm good to go, right?

If downloading the codec helped, it's a safe bet Aali's driver is not running correctly.

well these guys know what their talking about so id say to reinstall everything and make sure u have those saves (save00.ff7 to save09.ff7) and the ff7input.cfg, aalis custom driver's worth the re-installation. i have my game running in 1280x960 and it looks amazing.

You no longer need all the saves. That problem was fixed some time ago.

I got it going. I did a fresh install, patched and then ran FF7 remix. I'm pretty sure I could have just done Aali's driver and gotten it to run, but now it's so pretty! :-D

Thanks, guys for all the help! Keep up the good work, as if anything could stop you!

Remember that if you're running a 64 bit version of windows, you have to download a very old version of Aali's driver to get the 64bit registry key .reg file and run it - I don't think the modified FF7config will actually set 64 bit registries since the game is stored in a different place in the registry.

I may be wrong, but I forgot to do this when installing everything on my new PC and it took me a few minutes to work out what went wrong.
