SOLVED: yellow error messages at the bottom of ff8

solved.
Well, I guess I'll throw the solution up here in case anyone else needs this.

Error messages at the bottom of 8 were popping up for me every battle.  Solved it by sticking       disable_popup yes
into the ff8config file.
