strange FF8 speed problem.

In final fantasy VIII (8) after about 30 mins of playing the game starts to lag a bit, it gets worse and worse the longer i leave it.
also when i save my game and close it then restart the game no lag at all.

my PC specs (relevant):
CPU - P4 3.0ghz dual
RAM- 3 gig DDR2
GFX Card - Nvidia 6600 ( o/c and beta drivers (can keep up with 7800))
v-ram - 256MB
Virtual RAM 4 gig


its not a RAM problem for sure i moniter it. it only uses 35MB Max, plus 3 GB can never be used by FF8 :S
also on my CPU it get floored, usage 100% but only on one of them, since i got a dual.

also i heard that FF8 isent even made for the PC properly. thx in advance :-D

so you say over clocking could be the cuase, hmmmmm. Beta drivers are from Nvidia too.


but this dosent happen on anything else. and the lower my settings the less it slows down but still slows down after awhile.

its not heat either i got no slowdown threshold.

The newest Nvidia drivers are lagging the game badly, no matter what video card you have. You can either:

1) E-mail Nvidia about the issue and wait for a fix (which could take forever).

2) Downgrade to the Forceware 90 series of drivers. For your card, I recommend 93.71 WHQL. You can find it here:

to late already finished the game. rofl

 all i did was restart the game and get 0.27 FPS during summoning Diablo
