I installed this patch before realising it replaces a windows file and that its a bad patch. Can someone please tell me where to get the original file and how to change it back?

If I remember correctly, it changes a DLL. so find out which one it does and search it on google should come up with a link to some website think it's called DLLplace. eh, it'll be the first result. Download it from there and replace. goodluck

It replaces %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\drivers\gm.dls file, which is a soundfont file for MIDI.
