OK, fixed.

Problems with Hal2K shouldn't happen so much in the future ... yesterday we had to take it down quite a few times to try and fix some problems, but I *finally* got its soundcard working last night, so we can watch DivX's on the big screen TV  Now *that's* up, the server should be online pretty much constantly, which hopefully means less problems with the site.

And I thought a Sevrer is for hosting, not for playing DivX Vids...

Not our server  Ours is for:

  • Hosting a website
  • Sharing the ADSL between the other computers in the house
  • Providing networking for our LAN (DHCP, WINS, DNS, etc...)
  • Playing DivX's/DVD's on our TV
  • Broadcasting TV via the network to all of our computers
  • Running voicemail for the phone line
  • Emulating consoles, onto the TV of course
  • Running an MP3 server to provide a music system for the living room
  • Hmmm ... that's all *so far*...

Update: The Remake website has yet more useless info on it  I think this is a challenge, really; to see how much info I can get it to automatically track. That way, it looks like the sites current without actually having to do anything...

TV aerial goes thru splitter that connects to TV in card on server (Hal2K). Hal then runs Windows Media Encoder that broadcasts video & audio data over network as a live video stream. Voila!

Site: Yup, just noticed that  SHould be able to fix it now.
