The Skillster: If you can decompress the file without errors (with Ficedula's utility), then it's compressed. Perhaps it would help to figure out what Kernel1.BIN *couldn't* contain? Wild guess, but maybe it contains the limit break data?

Uhm, guys just in case you haven't noticed, Qhimm has allowed users to delete their own posts, so could you guys clear up the unwanted posts in this thread to keep it from being too long?

The SaiNt: Are you sure? I think that's a Mod/Admin only privilege. I've tried it before, but it never lets me do anything but edit.

Yes, I'm sure, I just asked Qhimm to implement it two days ago and besides, MOT was able to delete his messages. FYI, mods are powerless outside of their own forums.

Well, I suppose that puts a different spin on things. And of course I know mods only have power in their respective forums. I'm not *that* dumb.

(Finaly I'v found the forum I was searching for for so long! The same interest)ficedula: in the battle.lpg there are p files, at least some of them. For example try to view file 'slbj' as if it was .p file, you'll surely find that it's a chainsaw. And file 'ezac' is some picture.
Looks like there are files like in char.lgp, but there are no connections between them. At least i couldn't find any.

Then, i'm also studying P format, and ill try to post it somewhere, when i get my notes together.
see you soon

hmm. one picture. if i can

mirex: You're right. Most of the Files in the battle.lgp are .p files (but very big ones). The file ruhb, for example, is Tifa's head. But the files named **ab and **da (ruab and ruda for example) aren't p files, they'r another format (textures or something)If u want to know what I know 'bout the .p files (in the battle.lgp), visit this topic:

I would make a more meaningful reply but college calls  :(
I might not be working on the project for the next few weeks. Assignments and research papers are aplenty  :(I'm pretty surprised someone even read till the last thread of this board.

Well, that answers one question anyway (where the battle models are - or rather, how they're stored). In retrospect it makes so much sense, why didn't we try viewing them as .P's before...

Yeah, right now I'm really kicking myself. I *did* try viewing them in the PSX FF7 battle model viewer a while back (didn't work,) but I wonder why it never occurred to me to try viewing them as .P files. Hey, at least we figured them out, though.Anyway, I'd bet a lot that the structure is very similar to char.lgp. I guess the files just don't have extensions (so things get a bit confusing). That means that some are probably really .HRC files, some are really .RSD, some are .TEX, some are .P, and some are .A.

Well, the theory's easy enough to test...I might have a look at the files tomorrow now I'm back at my own computer (mwahahaha!).

If the Battle models do happen to be in the same format, implementing full size models of the characters might be possible after all.  :)

There are lots of battle models in battle.lpg and summons in magic.lgp, only problem is to find some files like .hrc-s, to know what to connet with what. These files are only problem. Like i have bahamut parts, but i don't know how to connect them together to make complete bahamut.Lets try to find these files.

The SaiNt: Good point. But wouldn't the battle models be out of proportion if we used them in the field?mirex: IIRC, the .A files contain positioning/bone data. Therefore, if and when we decode the format, we should theoretically be able to create a program that can view an entire model correctly, as long as we have its .hrc/.rsd files.
Several other .lgp archives (the GBike minigame, can't remember the file name offhand) that have .P files don't seem to have .hrc files, either. I wonder if it's a coincidence?
