Unlocking Cloud

Okay, my first post.

First off Im sorry if my noobishness offends anyone. I heard about this site and that it is extremley non-noob-friendly. I planned on seeing if this mod is already posted not before posting, but dont have the energy to sift through 94 pages on the subject, and dont even know what to call what I want to do.

So.

With the preliminaries aside allow me to ask :

Im looking for a mod that will alow me to switch out cloud so I can use 3 characters that are not him. eg. Red, Cid, and Yuffie. Is this possible?

Also a mod so that the person "in front" or "on-top"(however you want to call it) in the menu screen is simply the same person who is shown as the "walking" animation.


Thats it. I think its really cool what you guys are doing here and hope my newbishness doesnt offend too many.

Or you could use the omega editer Jenova on the front page.

As for your world map idea, only Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, and Cid are programmed to walk on the world map. (With the playor controlling them, that is. And only in certain areas for Tifa, Aeris, and Cid.) Now with the program, Meteor, you could program character paths for each character, but you'd still need more modding for the the person in the front to be on the world map. And no, there is no patch to my nkowledge that will do this.

For the modding on making the front character the walker: I dont know any programming. This would be a problem yes?

Although I dont imagine it would be terribly difficult, just one or two lines of code telling it to recognize the "front runner" and then telling it to put a sprite with said recognized front runner.

But I dont know. Like I said, dont know code.

oh, and Im in Japan right now. The site you sent me to has coding that understands my region and changes its language accordingly. I cant read Japanese, I cant only speak it, so Im a little lost on that website. Is there anyway you can give me a direct link?  Sorry for any trouble.

I got it to work and heres a few things incase you didnt know them:

-when you remove cloud, you cannot do it on the world map or else it will send you to 0,0 on the world map, which is ocean so you cannot move.

-If you want to make a team without cloud, you need to make a team including cid, in a save point that is "indoors". I found that the highwind works very well for this. Your "world map walking" character will then be cid. This works because the model for Cid is already in the programming because of the whole mideel thing.

-after that, on the world map you can switch cid out with any character, however Cloud is no longer usuable. This I think has something to do with "Cloud can not be moved around" codeing in his character.

and voila. If you take Cid out, you will revert to a Cloud walking-model, but he will no longer be in your group. I like this because Im sick of cloud. I like to see a group of 3 people I chose, as opposed to 2.

There are some bugs with it. For example I tried going to the Blown-up reactor, but I ended up without a model, and not being able to move outside of the main area, but still had random encounters.

I currently have a team of Cid, Red, and Yuffie, and am on my way to Junon. Thats as far as Ive gotten. Im busy with finals this week and I shouldnt even be playing, but you know... Im an addict

If you listened to what i said you'll notice that the editor i pointed out can let you swap cloud in and out of your team.
 
So this is really about removing Cloud from the party rather than "unlocking" him in the way you'd "unlock" Vincent but nvm.

I've tried so many save editor's for FF7 I've probably got this one but i'll download it anyway . . .

he probably meant like how cloud is Locked in the party. I got your back gheng  :-P
