Probably 7 since it's to Vista what XP is to ME.

Windows ME sucked, and XP was the fix to it
Windows Vista sucked, and 7 was the fix to it.

Seriously though, go with 7.  I have a netbook, and I run XP on it, only because with this machine, Windows 7 doesn't play nice with Final Fantasy VII, everything else though (well, everything I need, anyway), perfectly fine.  Even XBMC with the Xperience theme.

Upgrade to 7.

Everyone with Vista should upgrade post haste so that that horrid OS can be consigned to history ASAP.

Haha vista isn't so bad so long as you murder User Account Control (<--causes 99% of Vista's problems) as soon as you start using it.

I use vista, but if I were to get a new computer, I'd put Win7 on it. It's different, but it's more well-made.

but i love Final Fantasy VII and i don't want to work on its compatibility again..
so windows 7 is really better than vista huh.. well, i will upgrade my laptop later..  ;D

so, if i already fixed it in my vista, when i upgraded it to 7, i will have no problem with it?
or will i have to fix it all over again?

Win7, Think of it like this. 7 is Vistas XP so to speak. it's the flare of Vista, but it's more stable. and less annoying.

7 is an actual UPGRADE

Also, no compatibility issues with 7 and FF7 that i've seen. cept now it doesn't wanna enable AA and AF..

There are few differences between the operating systems 'at heart'. 7 is actually Kernel 6.1, so the core is going to be exactly the same - it's just that the 'periphery material' - the stuff that provides compatibility - is going to be improved.

Lol, then executables can access your system files without you knowing...  :(
I recently went from XP -> 7, noticed no speed difference, whereas XP -> Vista = SLOW

Well that was a half-truth, really.  Windows 7 doesn't play nice with Final Fantasy VII...if I'm using Aali's Driver... on my Netbook

go win7. I hated Vista on my girlfriends laptop, and i actually downgraded(upgraded?) it to XP and performance increased 10-fold. I have no issues with Win7 on my laptop and FF7. Initally i disliked Win7, but my opinion did a 180 within a matter of days.

Only to an extent. Mostly all it does is allows programs to access the Program Files folder, which MS stupidly blocked off.

^truth. Plus my antivirus doesn't allow things to touch my system files unless I allow them. I'm aware one could raise the argument that a good OS is one that doesn't need an antivirus, though, but I've yet to see such an OS.

You can also argue that anyone careless enough to download every executable they see is going to run into trouble whatever security they use.

True, but still, there's no real reason to turn UAC off in Windows 7.

just so everyone knows... if you have windows 7 or vista and issues w/ FF7 try using wine
to play the games , it works great for me on linux .. and there is wine for windows also.. just something to consider if you have problems running ff7 on vista or win7
