Hi.

I've played both Final Fantasy VII and VIII but I am still at a loss: When a character says "......", what does it mean and what is the vocal equivalent of it?

It means he is not happy with what was said but is keeping the peace, usually.  It tells the audience that the person is choosing to stay quiet.  What other way can you do this other than .... It can also mean a long pause.

You obviously talk about Squall (I know there other characters using it but couldn't hold back... sorry :P ) lol Watch this fandub to clear this out... Final Fantasy VIII Voices

Squall's voice actor is a good voice for the role, he is just a bit too stiff in the execution.

Squalls voice is awful! The actor sounds like he isn't even trying. Everything else sounds good though.
In the first chapters yes. Later on I think it's one of the most natural I've heard so far... Most fandubs for ff8 are so stiff but if you have something better i would love to watch... Too bad they only did the first 2 disks.

Eh, doesn't really bother me that much. FF8 is literally the only Final Fantasy I haven't beaten, except for the new ones too. I just didn't like that game.

"......" is silence with some meaning implied....it can either be just ignoring the person, or restraining your thoughts when you see someone saying or doing something which you consider crazy or nuts....sorta like "uhhhhhh....." "um....ya...right." in your head....
Or it could mean like you don have a smart reply to counter what someone said....

Take the Barret, Tifa, Cloud, running up the stairs scene when they sneak into the Shinra building via the maintenance section/fire escape
After climbing many floors
Barret: Damn it. I've had it!. I''m going back!
Tifa: It'll take just as long to go back.
Barret: ........

Obviously Barret is grumbling to himself silently in his head here....

"........" (now guess)  ;D

Am I the only one who feels the magic of the old FFs is part of the fact that they have no voices? It allows the imagination to fill in and replace the dialogue with character voices better fitting then any fan or even Square-Enix/Squaresoft could offer (especially given S-E's horrible english voice direction)

FFX imho was a very well voiced game but what is stopping them giving people the option?

Who can compete this voice ;)
lol

I personally would love to play ff8 with voices but like in ffviiivoices youtube fandub...

FF7 was great without voices....the sudden voiceless exclamations of characters like Tifa jumping in surprise when she realizes that the beautiful woman is Cloud is disguise :)

U r only 17
U r excused :P
The way you are on this forum i am suprised you are any older :P
anywayss voices in ff7 just won't feel right well most semi-2-d games look awkward with voice actors

While growing up you will learn my young man that most men grow up and get mature  between 18-28. While approaching 30s you begin to sudden reverse aging :P XD
