Well in some of these, there are multiple copies and parts, such as aeriths death. If somebody could tell me what part affects what part in the overall game with the ones that come in 1 2 3 and so on, i'd really appreciate it. It's so annoying to reedit over and over.

I'm not sure to understand what you're asking, but I will try with an example: you noticed that the dialogs of the beginning of the game are all found in severals files, like those two:

  • md1stin = Area 1 - Station
  • md1_1 = Sector 1 - in front of the station
In fact, md1stin and md1_1 both contain all the dialogs for the "Area1 - Station" and "Sector 1 - in front of the station".
So, if you're looking for a way to know which file use which dialog, then I suggest you to see either Loveless if you're working on PC files, or Hack7 if you're working on PSX DAT files (go in the options and select "Display on field used messages").
This way, when you open md1stin, you will only see dialogs for the "Area 1 - Station", and for md1_1 only the "Sector 1 - in front of the station" ones.
