I have recently switched to 2003 as I like its interface more and it allows me to have more then 4GB ram, however after I re formatted and was re installing my programs and final fantasy VII I couldn't get the game running, it crashes after i hit new game and refuses to start up again unless i reboot the computer.  I installed 1.02 and OpenGL drivers but still it crashes when pressing new game.

Is 64 bit causing problems  :|

Seriously?  Just use Windows 7 or 8.1. Even linux with wine would work better.  I don't think anyone here can really say much as I doubt severely that anyone is actually using that OS and can duplicate the problem so if you decide to stick it out your probably on your own.  Just a guess, I imagine the graphics drivers don't work too well with that OS.

The OS is simply XP with a couple extra functions
Most programs auto detect it as Windows XP

which is well over a decade old and no longer officially supported by the company that made it.  I would still recommend the upgrade

Windows 8.x doesn't come with terminal services which is the primary reason I'm using 2K3 it also costs $$$ to get it legit.

Ever heard of powershell, or yeah if your a terminal lover can't reccomend anything better than arch linux.

Well lets start with the problem, First post your App.log so we can see why the game is crashing (in the game folder it should be there after u ran the game and it crashed), This should give us a better idea of what is going on and hopefully it will be fixable without you having to install another OS,
But if you do decide to install another OS i recommend using Ubuntu, you can install it inside windows and dual boot with windows so you can still keep your W2K3 OS and have Linux as well.
