Wishes for start Menu (Final fantasy VII)

Guys! I think that it would be amazing if it could use a start menu like this :

It's possible?  ;D tell me yes lol
 
Short version: No
Long version: These videos show a plethora of features that this game's engine does not have. FMV behind live text, alternate fonts/graphics for choice dialogs... We're more likely to see Q-Gears completed before something like this could ever be done.

It can have live text over an FMV. There's an FMV of Diamond Weapon that has text over it. The credits themselves are treated like dialog boxes. Why can't that work?
 
There are 2 FMVs that have dialogue text over it...  the Nibl reactor, and Aerith date at Gold Saucer.
 
Because I'm an idiot and forgot about that. I was totally thinking of the ending FMV, which has the text embedded in. Can choice dialogs work over FMVs also?

There's still the fonts/fancy highlights, though. I can't imagine how that could possibly be implemented except through complex exe mods.
 
All dialogue can work over FMV... but this mod ain't happening.  Also, that isn't the correct Cloud/Aerith on the front.  It doesn't fit in with the style of the game.
 
It could in theory be possible, but either way it's a ton of work just for a start menu. I think that's the real issue.
 
This would be awesome even though it's just the menu and would be a lot of work. Isn't our goal to remaster this game from cover to cover? If someone wants to put in the work with our guidance, I say hell ya. Get started now! I'll help anyway I can.
 
Yes and no, if that were the case I'd say we'd be better off rebuilding the game from scratch than modding it. I do agree though, helping someone who's interested in starting a new project is a good thing and should be encouraged. If you're interested in taking a crack at it Gabriel I'm sure there's enough experience spread out around the forum to help.

Close. Q-gears is just a new alternate game engine. It would potentially offer new options to use, like maybe using normal maps and stuff, but it's still a mod that uses the original game at it's core. An actual remake would be everything from scratch. Using something like Leadwerks too a new game engine could maybe even be easier.

Hardly. The datafiles will be the same as a starting point, but from there it will be expandable in a way the 1998 exe never could be.
 
I already feel old enough most of the times :P :P but this thread has evolved in a quite interesting way... ;) I was about to reject the whole interactive start screen theory with Covarr's post, while the following posts altered my point of view.
 
Well with 7th Heaven we should be able to alter the fonts only for the start screen, so it seams pretty much possible to do it. It also depends on Hextlaunch if it read dynamical added/changed files, but if I remember right it does.

By the way does somebody knew how to activate rumble for a controller? The Ultrasound can read and replace the sound of the game, so it should also be possible to run a rumble script together with the sound.
