yet another snowboard crash for your collection

ive tried changing to quarter screen, software acceleration, slamming enter(more like slamming ever game related key) at the screen change like some guy apparently did and got it working, i tried changing that sound thingy(dont remember the name... was several hours since i tried it), tried every patch, tried combining every patch, tried mgp though it didnt really help since i was unable to get the snowboard(crashed if i tried to enter any buildings) and ive tried yelling at it... all thats left for me is either to pummel the disc(i doubt it will help the game but it might make me feel better) or to find a kind soul that wouldnt mind sacrificing some time to take my save file then play past it for me.

at the screenchange... black screen, sound plays then the sound glitches for a sec and i get a windows error pop up

i definetly wouldnt mind.... you know, this is the 4th time ive started playing ff7 and not being able to finish it becouse i thought it was impossible to get around the chocobo crash, and this is the 4th time i remembered why i didnt finish it the 3 other times, cuz i couldnt get past the snowboard minigame...

anyways ill mail it to you, dont have msn, im or anything like that only mirc and my router wont let me send through that

Ok...

Game crashed on 1.02 ff7.exe with music patch applied. After patching with mgp the problem is gone... Please patch it again following these instructions: Mini Games Patcher. Just be sure to use the newly created "patched_ff7.exe". If it won't help, post back, I'd think of some solution...

Can you post the debug info from patching with mgp?

did you get it to work? I have the same problem, the debug looks the same too, and I still crash when the minigame tries to load.
is there anyone else that has had the same problem but not getting it to work even with the mgp? (note, the fps in the bike game gets fixed)..

you said in another topic that the snowboard crash is caused by a memory read that win XP dislikes, or something like that. does mgp fix this and is it then another problem.. so it wouldn't (probably) work even if I install win 98 on another comp to play through just this part?

one of the last thing APP.log states tho is that it tries to play snow.midi, but it is allready running.. this happens twice before the game crashes.. so I guess it's just when entering the house for the snowboard, and then exiting it.. so thats not really a problem.. or might it be?

I installed the patch on 1.02 with chocobopatch, tnt patch and riva patch, and without them, and nothing works, tried all video modes, and compability modes.
I am using ATI mobility radeon x700, if that info helps

and I fail the 8bit textures on software, can only select hardware if I tick nvidia. with nvidia ticked, 8bit textures go "----". whatever renderer.

I think I've read basicly all posts here containing 'snowboard' and 'crash'.

still can't get it to work..

please help I'm dying to continue this fabulous game! ;D

It would work on Win98 (most likely) if you installed it. It's just another "bad-pointer" crash. As I said in tech related topic about reading debug info of mgp: It only fixes one bug which I found, and which was causing crashes on my PC.

It's really hard to track down a bug which "wants" to stay hidden on my machine (it's scared, or what?

). The only solution I can think of right now, is: Send me your save-game...

Sorry for not being good enough to fix it...

Do you know if there ia a feature in Jenova or something that'd allow you to move all stats and equips from one save to another? then ppl could just download a general aftercrash save and transfer all their items and stats to it. ;D

Cool idea, but it would be easier to make a proggy that'd skip the snowboarding part of the game

. You see... The save-game contains not only the info about your characters, their gear etc. but also things connected with progress in game (ie: LovePoints). Making a general aftercrash save would overwrite all the progress, all that the people had been working on for hours.

ah, ok, but wouldn't it be possible to take just the bytes that specify the "position in plot line"(if it works that way) without any other, and replace the ones in the acctual save, to the same effect as to skip that part in game?
