A Return to FFVII Brings More Errors

Yeah, but this is kind of related. Good enough for me.

There was 1 problem I had burning FF8's disc1: The fact that it was larger than 650mb! Forunatly 700meg CDs are now common and cheap, so making a copy of the FF8 game discs (and install disc) shouldn't pose a problem for anyone now-a-days.

LuniNutz99: Do what I already suggested: Buy your new copy of the game, and make copys of the discs. You'll be fine.

As for your FF7/Win2k problem: Expect it to get worse. FF7 (and sometimes FF8) just don't work with win2k. One solution is to keep (or reinstall) Win98 as a seperate OS on your system. This has the downside of requiring Win98 and 2k drivers for everything, and it takes up quite a bit of HD space. The advantage is you can play games like FF7 that work better with Win98 than 2000.

Personally, I built a new computer and installed Win98 on that, so now I can play FF7 whenever I want. It's a low-grade system, but I want it that way, because it will let me play the old-school games I like, such as Privateer, and FF7! (If I had room, I'd install FF8 and finally beat that game, rather than get to Ultimica, die and then rip & watch the end movies.)

I had the same problem with FF8 disc 1 (Fortunately I had some 700mb discs), but I didn't have a CD burner when FF7 first came out.  Sorry about bumping this topic up.  I didn't realize how long ago this was posted.  It won't happen again.

Wait, so you haven't beat Ultimecia yet?  You probably know this, but all you really need, spell-wise, is Curaga, Full-life, Aura, Meltdown, and Shell, and maybe Protect.  If you have the equivalent menu commands for Curaga and Full-life, then won't even really need those spells.  It's just too easy with that setup.  Of course, that's assuming that Squall has the LionHart weapon.

Thanks for the advice, but it's been literally years since I've played that game (For any good length of time), and I have almost no clue what some of those spells are...

My FFVII cds are messed up too.  I was trying to fix it, but I messed them up more.  I guess it would be cheaper to get it new, than to get it fixed.  The problem is where to find it.

CompUSA, Fry's Electronics, Software Ect. (or whatever it's called now...) and Electronic Boutiqie (damn spelling!) should have copies.

There are re-released versions still for sale. They're mostly "Classic" editions, but should still work just fine.
