Is there any way, or a program that would allow me to "record" what I'd see as I'm playing the game?

Also, see if you can get a trail of camtasia.. fraps has an ugly web adress watermarked on teh free version, and it only recored at 15fps and lowsy res.  Camtasia is slightly better =)

Just wanted to show off what I put together with Fraps and Ulead Gif Animator.

I'll take a look at Camtasia, thanks EmperorSteele. :D

Oh, I might as well ask this here too.

Is there a program that would let me have a "full" image of a town, so that I don't have to take screenshots over and over?

I'd like to be able to fill in the gaps, as well as anything that you can't see due to the "cover" of the screen.

Here's what I've been able to do so far:

I've always wanted to do this, so, while it may seem pointless to some, I like it. :D

The full town is one large image, and, well, unless you can see the whole image, i'd have to say you're out of luck.  LPGTool i think is SUPPSOED to beable to read this info, but any bg scene with animation ends up looking very, very fucked up in the editor =/

Bleh... I guess screenshots it is... and incomplete towns/areas... :weep:...

I got most of Junon done: http://img66.echo.cx/img66/6739/junonmain6sb.gif

If you own the PSX version of the game, snailrush's 7mimic is a really great viewer of maps and scripts. Though it seems he won't divulge his secrets so the same technique can be used in the PC version. (Though I remember seeing him around here a few times...) 7mimic lets you access all the different 2d switches and animations, as well as displaying the Parallax layers and lighting "glow" effects.
http://snailrush.online.fr/ I believe is the site.

Thanks, but unfortunitly I don't have the PSX verison. Its a shame he won't help make one for the PC version. :(

No way to pull that program apart and see how it "ticks" I'm guessing..

wanna make one of sephiroth when his back is towards the fire? Thatd be cool

Sure, but wouldn't the actual FMV be better?

Anyways, I'll get on it when I have some time. :)

I apolgize for the double posting, but I just thought of something.

Could using the debug room somehow get me a full shot, or something "scrollable" of the locations?

I'd just really like to be able to get full images up. :D

Just a random thought. :-?

Have you looked at Cosmo before? You could get the full backgrounds from that, then for any animations that are missing use whatever you were using to make the gifs earlier in this thread and combine the two.

I haven't looked at Cosmo before, but I'll give it a shot, thanks!

Hm, other then cosmo constantly opening to an area past my view on my screen   (fixed that by making resolution huge), I think this is what I've been looking for!

Its really a shame that these projects were never continued (since not all backgrounds dispaly properly). :weep:

Looks like all I'll need to do now is figure out how much I need to resize the animations that I've got, since Cosmo doesn't stretch the images out to fill the screen like the game does. Or, I'll just have it set at "2/1" which stretches it out enough, but..... still, I'm open to ideas as to what to do about the black or other colored parts in the images.

Example

*edit*

Ok, one more problem..... animation cut-off. :x

As you can see here, in the red box, the yellow line shows where the visable animation in the game stops, but I have the rest of the space I wish to put the complete animation.

Cut-off problem (sorry for the large file, I just wanted it to be seen clearly)

If I've hit a deadend with this, and there's really nothing I can do about it, then..... alright I'll do the best I can with what I have. :-?

But if anyone can think of a way to help, please, this is something I really enjoy doing. :)

Btw...... one more thing (sorry), anyone know what happened to ficedula? Why did he just stop working on all his programs? They were/are really good, but could use major updating. :(

I'd like to request the Nibelheim reactor, where Cloud confronts Sephiroth. And possibly the cliff where Zack dies. ^^;

Are you talking about cosmo?  Awesome editing program, but a couple things that need fixed.  If I knew Delphi, I'd do something, but...*sigh*I don't.

Trying to get what I need, little bit more time and I think I should be able to put it all together. :)

Working on it as I type. :D

Yes, Cosmo and really all of his other programs. :(

Oh, here's the 'present' Nibelheim.

Ok, I've done the scene with Zack.

FWIW, LGP Tools is actually more up to date - slightly - than Cosmo for the field background viewer. If you have v1.6.0 then try viewing a field background in that ... you may get a bit further.

Once you're in the background viewer, tick the 'corrective filter', and 'alpha' tickboxes, and try putting in '-1' to the BlendOffset box; that'll get most levels looking reasonable. Press the 'Reload' button after changing the settings to make them take effect.

Ah, thank you Ficedula!

Some levels do look better! :D

Oh wow! The animation feature is really going to help me!  8)

Love all your work. wish you had continued on them (if i knew anything about this stuff, i'd offer to help) :/

Woud you all think me crazy if I said at some point I'd want to attempt the World Map? (if its entirely possible)
