Wow, I just realised that the bloke I told off for asking for help with the Ultima edition is the one who changes his name and never uses the search function :-D

Methinks death_gigas  might not last much longer here...

Yeah. Poor thing. I wish he would acquire some common sense.

That's a precious commodity. They just don't hand that out to everyone you know.

Common sense doesn't need handed out, he can just pirate it.

is there a way to make aali's custom drivers work in full screen or in 1280x1024? because right now my game only runs well in windowed mode 1280x960 and under. everytime i put it in full screen or in 1280x1024 i get black lines and backgrounds.

Woohoo. Sweet Aali, you rock!

edit:

just tried this out and everything is black where the previous version worked fine. The game still runs as i can go past the intro video and scroll around in the main menu (i can tell by the sound)

here is the app log

Turns out I broke the indirect path.. Change resolution to an even multiple of 640x480 or turn off prevent_rounding_errors for now, a fix will be available very soon.

:EDIT:

Let's try that again, please redownload.

Overall improvements to transparency effects.
Alpha blending enabled for everything that doesn't already have a blending effect.
External texture cache added.
Fixed a crash that could happen when no suitable movie codec could be found.
Replacing the buster sword background in the main menu with an external texture will make it fullscreen.
Fixed a random crash that could happen when loading a 24-bit PNG file.
Changed external texture behavior w.r.t. palettes, if the PNG for a certain palette cannot be found, palette 0 will be tried instead. This should save some space on all those textures that don't really need different palettes.
Wow... I'm at a loss for words. Thank you.

hi!, i tried the latest ff7_opengl-0.7.2b.zip and folowed your instructions, unzip, put it on the ff7.exe folder and run the .reg file, when i open the game, i can hear the intro, noises, batlle fight, but i cant see anything!! i can only see a white screen!!

there it goes my system thingys and patches i added if it can help: https://www.ff7catalog.com/threads/6100/ (the spell patch is the fire, firaga names)

Things looking good so far, going to require a few tweaks to the external textures. One other bug I noticed is when you Alt+F4 to close the program it crashes but does not create an crash.dmp and the app.log doesnt say anything either. Not a big deal but i thought u may want to know

yea, in the multiple times i opened and close ff7 to see if the white screen disappears, it crashed 2 times, but it isn a great deal tho...

I tried out the new driver and ran into some things
1. The highwind is now semi-transparent
2. Cloud is semi transparent on the world map (sometimes)
3. The menus and world map are much darker

The game crashed when I tried entering the cockpit whilst driving the highwind

You could always just redownload the driver.
