Each time the original FF7 Config starts, it will automatically reset the display driver.
After that must be activated with the reg file Aalis driver again.

Am I really so hard to understand?  :'(
I did that. What I didn't understand is if I was supposed to run the original config at all, using just aali's. No, you aren't hard to understand, you just come off as an arrogant asshat.

Thanks though for posting the updated openGL file.

You can also use Otyugh trainer to add mastered materia and so forth.
Awesome, thanks for the info.

This is probably because I write it down correctly, but you are still doing it wrong.

I downloaded the updated openGL registry and ran it in my FF7 file folder. I ran FF7 config, and switched the RIVA 128 to TNT, but to do that I had to check the NVIDIA box. All sound still works, but I still can get the opening video to play, let alone anything after the first menu. The driver is the Direct 3D driver. All settings in my openGL are the same.

See that's the thing though, it doesn't matter what order you do it in, which is what you would have everyone believe. My problem was solved by switching to an older version of the driver. Thanks for trying to help though.

You MUST run FF7Config.exe FIRST. When you use it, it overwrites ALL FF7 registry entries besides datapath and moviepath (and possibly the values related to disk number, but those shouldn't matter because the game will tell you to insert the appropriate disk anyways when you load a game). Therefore, even if you used the registry file beforehand, it still overwrites the registry entry to use Direct3D.

ANY TIME you use FF7Config.exe, you must then use the .reg file again or the driver will revert to Direct3D, no matter if/how many times you have used the .reg file before.

**TO AVOID CONFUSION: This information is only accurate for versions 0.8.0 and beyond - you definitely don't need a .reg file for versions 0.7.8 - 0.7.11b, nor do I believe you need one for older versions. (As if anybody would still be using a version older than 0.7.11b for FF7. I don't know about FF8.)

Ah. Well To be clear, although I typed the process I went through incorrectly, I made sure to follow all instructions. I was under the assumption that Aali's driver and files downloaded from this thread had its own FF7Config.exe file, which would make the one on my install disc a moot point. Whether or not that is the case, I ran the registry Kompass for 0.7.11, and everything is hunky dorey now. Thanks for all of the help, you guys really do make it easy for someone who isn't well versed in these languages.

The biggest hangup I had was a few years ago, Aali's driver had to be selected in the drop down window of the config program. I couldn't find this this time, so that was the most confusing part.

Anyways, thank you everybody for the help.

Can anyone give me help on this? I put it in the FF7 directory set my resolutions but there i no effect on the game after running the reg file?

Hello Aali! I doubt you will see this any time soon, but thank you for the amazing driver!

I had a question about ff8 and it's modpath... is the only thing that works right now the path to the menu?  Also - I have upscaled Triple Triad and wanted to put it into the game -- but have no idea how without a modpath to follow.  I've managed to make the tim file for the cards, but have no way for the game to see it.  I have a forum topic on the subject here.

Any chance there's plans on having the driver be able to read external tim files placed in a folder?

Thanks! You're amazing!

Hi There , thanks a lot , i finally update from Aali OpenDriver from 0.7.10 to 0.8.1 :D

Well im Linux User , im using "Wine 1.7.5" , to play the game , and this Driver OpenGL works perfect.

i just wanna know if someone , have a method to put all data of game , in where the game are installed
and load directly from Hard disk , without the game "cd change" . Thanks for any answer , you can gave me about this.

You can't. The CD change is built into the game's scripting engine. It asks you for disc changes even if they're already in your optical drive.

If you rip your own CDs and store the ISOs on your hard drive, you can use something like Daemon Tools to mount them to a virtual drive when it asks for switches, so you don't need to physically swap them yourself.

#First world problems.

If it's FF7, you can. If it's FF8, you can't. But you can do virtual images, like Shard said.

Shard , im using Linux , and Using Wine 1.7.X to play the game
i use "CDEmu" to mount the ISOS , and game works great , but the unique thing its annoying me its the disc change

This OpenGL Driver, have a "Direct Mode" someone , had use it ???

So I'm having some odd behavior out of the VGMstream plugin. Specifically, when I start the game, when the bombing run music is supposed to start playing, I get silence. At some point *after* that, the music starts working. Sometimes it's after the first battle. Sometimes I have to change the music volume in the in game options menu. Sometimes it just won't start at all. Generally, if it does start working, it doesn't stop working, unless I restart the exe. Also, music is often missing when I load a save game, even if it was playing before I saved.

I have Aali 0.8.1b, Reunion, and Anxious Heart installed. (In that order). Nothing else.

Don't use Anxious Heart. 0.8.1b has support for the music already.
Anxious Heart has been updated to install the ogg properly for the new version of Aali's driver.  So DO install it.

Yeah, I'm using the very latest which outright says it doesn't support FF7Music anymore and supports the vgmstream plugin, so I don't know what's going on *shrugs*

FF7Music also works with the new driver.
Only Covarrs Installer could make problems...

Hey just installed this new driver, but now ALL texture mods are not showing up anymore. And even the font and Menu/GUI looks very pixelated.

Did I do something wrong? Or do I have to load it in 7th Heaven or something?
The new driver don't supports textures in the folder "textures" anymore.
The "Team Avalanche GUI v2.0.8" Mod no longer works, that is also installed with bootleg.
But that belongs in another thread

Seems to be some sort of regression in 0.8 branch to me.

Color range is wrong in the new ffmpeg plugin. Everything is washed out and blacks are now grey. Just replacing ffmpeg_movies.fgp with an older version fixes it.

Not sure if this has been asked, but is it possible to center the image so there's black bars above and below it as opposed to just below?
