Hi!

I have WinXP ang GeForce FX5200. Without any patch I don't see videos, but I can choose between new game and continie and then I see nothing. After 1.02 Patch the game crashed, I mean 2 sekonds and I'm back in Windows. Can anybody explane me, what I have to do to play FF7.
Please, I need realy help....

Download 1.02 patch and Install it.
Download the DUCK Codec Update and Install that too.

If it stills gets out on loading you should check the paths on your Registry to see if they are correct.

- or -

Just perform a full install and download the two files above, Google them or Search for the topic here.

I have already full install and 1.02 Patch and can you give me a Link to thise "DUCK Codec Update" please? I have found 367 of them and am not sure what have I to download.
Und are this two files enough to start FF7, or I need something else?

Gee i hope their aren't any major problems with GFX5200 and FF7 im going to buy one next week........

FX users are known to have a bit of trouble but it shouldn't be too bad with the right drivers and rivatuner (URL to it is somewhere from searching on this messageboard).

Here's the link to Duck Codec (also works for upside down movies)
http://ftp.eidos.com/pub/patches/final_fantasy7/ff7betap1.exe

FF7 1.02 patch, Duck Codec patch, Chocobo patch (for winXP users) are all you will probably need.

Also, a few of these patches are for ENGLISH version only, but I'm not sure which (normal FF7PC & Platnium edition both are O.K)
1.02 patch - http://support.eidosinteractive.com/GI/CustomerSupport/patches/PC/final_fantasy7/riva_TNT.exe
Codec patch - linked above
Chocobo Patch - http://www.qhimm.com/ff7_chocobo_patch.zip

There's more modifications out there but they are just enhancing related.

Oh, and also, if you DLed the game, it probably didnt come with movies.  So, you're outta luck in that case =P

Thanks to the Duck Codec Link, but it's not exist :isee:
I have tried to find it on eidos page too and without result :weep:
Where else can I found it?

And EmperorSteele. What do you meen with DLed the game?

He means downloaded from a filesharing client or otherwise. I may have the true motion update on floppy somewhere if you have msn i can send it to you. I'll just go have a look for it.

EDIT: omg i found the floppy put it in and it says it isnt formatted  :o it did this to another floppy i had what the hell is going on.

if you donwload the game from FTP, you mostly likey dont have movies in it cuz it huge MB than the other data in FF7, that what he mean

Well i wasnt goin to burn couple mb of data on a cd it would have been a waste  :P

Two problems.

1. Money.
2. I have over a hundred re-writable cd's and guess how many still actually work? They can only be written so many times before they become prone to problems and writing only a couple of mb's is a real waste.

Yeah some discs last and others are pretty much gone after only a few re-writes so i tend to try not re-write more then a few times.  Those USB thumb drive thing's are over $100 here or atleast the last time i saw an advertisement for one.

If that's $100 in AU, are you referring to the 1GB USB drives?

The cheapest USB drive I've seen is a 128MB for $25 Australian. Never seen  data storage cheaper than that besides a kilo of CDs

Floppy disks are not reliable, as you seem to have discovered -- that's why I don't use them.  If I do, I always do a full format on it, then use it to move a file or whatever, and then put it back into my pile of floppies to format again before use next time -- but I really hardly ever have to do this anymore.

I have gotten two 64 MB USB flash drives for free and I bought a 256 MB one a while back.  They're good, I also use (non-rewriteable) CDs/DVDs a lot -- CD-Rs are really like $0.50 or less each.  Or more often than that, I just shove stuff around via network/internet.

Well i don't *yet* have a dvd burner but i do plan on getting one. Dvd discs here aren't sold seperately they are sold as packages of 10 to 25 so i don't have a choice of only one or a couple.

Id rather buy RW media anyway even if it does cost a little more i have had alot of problems with CD-R's and they were't any cheaper for me not locally atleast.
