Many games now have made the switch to DVD so CD huggers like me need to go out and buy a DVD drive.
Myst 4(a 8Gb game) had the choice of packaging the game in 2 DVDs or 10 CDs. You can probably guess what they chose.

Yeah but if they weren't so lazy i bet they could get it a hell of alot smaller then that. You should see what Uharc can do of course it's really slow and sucks up a ton of ram :|

Iv'e got some Uharc GUI program on my comp though i don't use it often unless i got something big i cant get off my hd for awhile.

UHARC has good compression but the amount of system resources I need to feed it with is kinda getting up my back.

Yeah it uses a damn lot it's a real pity to. I wonder why no one has continued it? Im sure it could be improved greatly.

There's another type of compression called 7z but has anyone tried using it?

Oh ive gotten some of those files before i think WinRAR was able to open them though i can't be sure. I haven't tried the program for it but i might give it a try see how well it go's against rar and zip.

i think 7zip is the better way to go - it compresses data very well, maybe not as good as UHARC, but the decompression is way faster. /it also has the craziest compression options i've ever seen :d - 1GB compression dictionary :D/

Wow... A tech problem with FF7 turns into a removable media debate.
I can tell you this about the TNT patch....

IF 8 bit pallet says PASS, "do not" use the FF7.exe from the patch...and don't check any of the Nvidia option in the FF7config.exe, from the patch.

If 8 bit pallet says FAIL.... You use the FF7.exe from the patch, and select the Nvidia options of the FF7config.exe of the TNT patch.

Not following those rules...will cause the game to not run...from my experience, anyway. Which is outdated, being I haven't played FF7PC for a few years. But, I'm sure it still holds true.

Wel im not using an nVidia based card anymore it's a MSI RX9250 with ATI Radeon chipset. What would you suggest for it?(i haven't played ff7 in a bit either).
