Avalanche crashes the game for you?
What video card are you using?
Post your APP.LOG.
You might try disabling shaders.
Yeah it crashes it after the first battle, when the exp screen would normally show up.
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
Shaders have been disabled.

thanks for the release of 0037 been looking forward to it. now the long install process lol. 1 thing i noticed is that in the chocobo sage's house right above him there is a small white blotch that shouldnt be there. not sure if its corrected in 0037 or not but just thought i should let you know its there

Glitches in the scenery are related to the field texture packs: FacePalmer, BlackFan and SL1982 Field Packs.
I have no experience editing FF7 field textures.
If anyone makes corrections to textures or models, please post the individual files.
Bootleg will assimilate all FF7 improvements!

Hi masterwongfu,

i talked with Vgr (who uploaded this archive). He can't upload this version,
because he doesn't have it anymore.

But i have made a different version, which i will upload today.  ;)

hey guys under the enhanced movies it is missing part 3 out of the 5 parts unless im reading something wrong

Update:

I uploaded the enhanced movies to rapidshare.
Bootleg already supports the 2 .zip version, so I'd like to keep it alive.

ff7_enhanced_movies_1.zip                       Trojak          Another Movie Pack part 1               Qhimm FILE

ff7_enhanced_movies_2.zip                       Trojak          Another Movie Pack part 2               Qhimm FILE

Crackinglazer did you try updating your sound driver? For example my one's Realtek hd audio driver

well I get sound from everything else, just no in game music (the music from the opening fmv does play, but then nothing) I imagine the error message that pops up when trying to install ff7 music (even though the files seem to be there) has something to do with it.

Well yeah but have you tried updating the sound driver not ff7music, a driver that comes installed with your pc like a graphics driver etc. As for me i had many problems with ff7 at the start and the main problem was sound but after i installed the latest update for the sound driver as it fixes sound problems it fixed afterwards

well my sound runs through the hdmi output on my graphics card, and I believe the software is properly updated, when I check the properties of the device and press update driver (after a little searching) it tells me I have the best driver

oh ok well that's all i can think of to fix your sound sorry. last question did you buy your ffvii pc game? if you did then it's probably something to do with your pc

yeah I bought it (its not the ultima edition of coarse), so the error message I posted on the preavious page doesn't seem like the problem to you?

Edit.

due to the error message, is it possible that bootleg hasn't auto configured all the ff7 music files, as in all the files are on my computer, but perhaps all the steps that need to be taken for ff7 music to run haven't happened?

I'm going to post this now before I regret not posting it later, because I'm finally in the mood to do another incredibly long install of this on my laptop (thanks to you PitBrat it's a lot less time than I'd normally spend installing all of these).

1. I have Bootleg0002B8, I know it's ancient history now. What's the newest version and is that the one linked to in the first post?

2. I individually downloaded all the Bootleg0002B8 files, is there a way to check which mods have been updated or added since then? I think all the NPC models had been completed a while back.

3. I stopped playing when I had a problem with boss battles happening at random places (was supposed to fight motorball at the end of the highway, instead somehow warped back to the elevator fight with Hundred and Heli Gunner), did we find out why that happened and was the issue resolved? Obviously I could easily just replace it with a stock "scene.bin", but I was worried other stuff was screwed up too.

4. Having already used Bootleg0002B8 to install, do I have to completely uninstall the game and do a fresh install to use the latest one?

Many thanks in advance!!!

I had no idea this had advanced so far. Truly sexual work PitBrat.

Question 4 still stands though, do I have to do a fresh install? I know that'll probably yield the best results... I just hate doing FF7Music all over again. Covarr was awesome when he first released that original tutorial, but I still had to work my ass off doing all sorts of random shit to get it to work. Same with the last bootleg.

bootleg has an inbuilt checklist, as you will see in the tutorial, makes it a smoother process, so yeah fresh install is the way to go (dun forget to backup them saves)

I recall reading a post about FF7Music not working with HDMI audio.

As far as reinstalling Bootleg, it's always best to start with a fresh install of FF7.
To speed things up on subsequent installs, you can zip the contents  of the freshly installed FF7 game folder (not the folder itself) and use the .zip as a Bootleg Image  when reinstalling.
Please update to Bootleg 0037.  There is a built in mod list that will help you know what files are required.
If you don't do a fresh install, you may have damaged game files.

Thanks for the reply.

I recall reading a post about FF7Music not working with HDMI audio.
It's working fine with mine at the moment. The problem I was having was I'm using a laptop hooked up to my HDTV using an HDMI cable. As such there are 3 audio output sources.

My laptop has 2, and then theres obviously HDMI. Because FF7Music handles the music, it's easy to change to that as an output source.

But the sound effects are playing through the laptop audio card. The only way to fix this is to open the ORIGINAL FF7Config and manually choose the output source as HDMI audio, which is easy enough.

But then you have to run the registry file for Aali's driver, which resets this. I'm hoping there'll be a fix soon.

At least you figured out the problem.
I have a similar problem when using 2 sound cards.
The FMV's always play through the add in card and the music plays through the built in sound card.
I'll look into finding a fix for this and adding it to Bootloader.

Yes the FMV's do that on mine too, probably because their sound isn't controlled by FF7Music, same as the sound effects. I'm currently installing the latest bootleg, I'll let you know if that has made any difference.

when in game I checked my sound devices, and only the hdmi was doing anything...

Is there a way to manually install the MOVIE.zip files, and still have it integrate nicely with the other cutscene packs?  I ask because, even though MOVIE.zip is present in my bootleg folder, the Bootleg exe for some reason is saying that it is missing and skips over it.
