MoshMosh: Did you disable UAC? Did you right click on BFE.exe and go to compatibility and make it run as administrator? And Bootleg.exe too?

I am having the same issue as a previous person on Windows 7. I work in IT so I'm relatively sure I'm not doing something stupid.
I'm running it as admin, etc etc. Cleaned registry. Cleaned install from steam on another drive and not in a system folder. Installing on a different drive letter. CD is mounted on E. Bootleg located on another drive and not in a system folder. Even gave all permissions to these directories for all users just for good measure. Antivirus is disabled. Steam isn't open.

It gets stuck on the Building LGP files step, it gets to "Building char.lgp . . ." and that's it. It doesn't do anything else. It just... stops. I've repeated this process 3 times, and it always happens.
How long are you waiting for it to build char.lgp? It's one of the biggest files in the game initially, and turns probably the biggest if you chose any of the character Field Models, Base Models (NPCs), and Battle Scenes as LGP options.

I had this working the other day with sound after the music patch ;D but now when ever i open bootloader, the command box opens up then the game starts to begin (stays on a black screen) but after that there is a beep and everything closes. Any ideas?
Post your APP.LOG after it happens. Use code tags please --- [ code] APP.LOG text [ /code]

When you say open Bootloader, I assume you mean opening it and then pressing Play FF7?

Have you updated any kind of drivers or hardware between the time it was launching and now?

I realize I am probably doing something right foolish, but I'm on Windows 7 and just got the Steam version, and while other people have issues with bootleg, I can't even get FF7_GameConverter_0.9b.exe to run! It just repeatedly tells me "Access Denied. Installation Aborted. Run this Program with Administrative Privalleges.", which I am doing. I have the blank iso mounted and I'm not in a system folder. Renaming a drive didn't work either. Rather frustrating, because after looking at all these mods I can't help but want to use them!

Is there something I could be doing wrong?
Are you running the Game Converter with Admin Privileges?

Yes, I running it with administrative privileges. Still seems to hate me. Haven't touched bootleg.exe since I figured I needed the converter to work first.

I'm getting only one small issue. After installing all the mods, all my drivers, etc. everything is working great, EXCEPT, for some reason, even though I set the resolution to my monitors native res, it still seems to lower the res once the game launches and stretches it out so all I see is the top lefthand corner.

I'm actually running the Steam version on a 2013 Macbook Pro using Bootcamp with Windows 7. It's got an NVidia Geforce 720M GPU in it, so it can definitely handle the mods. However, I suspect it may have to do with the fact that my native reso is 2880 - 1800. However, I tried lowering it to similar multiples but still get the issue of my game being stretched out and unplayable. Here's my app log:

2880x1800 sounds like you're playing on a TV?
Nope. As I said in my original post, I'm playing on a MBP retina display with windows 7 on a bootcamp install. I'm more than willing to tone down my resolution in order to get it working, but it seems like whatever I change my resolution to, the game scales top about 1 and 3/4ths the size of my screen.

There was no mention of retina display, so I wasn't sure. You're the first to test and report that kind of display, so I have no experience dealing with it. I wasn't even aware people were playing it on Macs.

It's showing your output resolution as 2400x1800, so it's clear that it's not adjusting to your native unless that's the resolution you set in Bootloader. I've never dealt with any reports of that high a resolution, and I don't have anything that can output that to test. Basically, you're our first guinea pig to test and potentially solve it.

Have you tried playing windowed mode at a smaller resolution? Try testing one with a multiple of 640x480. If that works, then try a 16:9 resolution e.g. 1280x720 or 1920x1080.

A screenshot of the problem would be nice also. I'm unsure what you mean by seeing the top lefthand corner.

Yes, I have updated a program (razer surround) recently that affects sound

Ah, apologies. I thought that I had mentioned it was a retina display.

Here is a screenshot of my current issue. This is what the credits screen looks like on fullscreen mode, when I launch the game fullscreen at a resolution of 1920x1080

It seems to work okay in windowed mode at 1920x1080, but I really would love to be able to play full screen. Still, I'll take what I can get, but it seems like a really strange issue with a really simple solution that I'm overlooking.

Hey

I need some help please

the menu noise does not work for me when i used this tifa bootleg mod

i installed everything right

so how can i fix this problem then

I Have autism and OCD

i do not know how to work mods at all okay

it was my first time trying to get this mod to work 100% right

and now its making me very anxious that this mod is breaking down on me alot now

so can someone help me with this mod please

Patience, man. We aren't on 24/7, there won't always be someone who can help at any given time. Maybe wait a day or two instead of three hours to post again.

Also, did you seriously need to report your own post just to continue to ask for help?

Did you check "New SoundFX" when you ran Bootleg?

You installed .exe files before running Bootleg? Which ones did you install?

does anybody know about a zack mod, which replaces cloud or cait or any other mod which includes zack? i've seen one somewhere, but i think it wasn't supported anymore and the link was dead.

New PC I thought it time to give this majorly magnificent modification of FF7 a second shot. I'm stuck before I can even start playing though! Help would be mucho appreciated :) Given my luck with these things this probably won't be the first obstacle..

-Did a clean install of an old copy of FF7 to a non-system folder. (c:\desktop\games\final fantasy vii)
-Downloaded BFE and 'Tifa's Package [Bootleg040 mods]'
-Made sure the bootleg program pointed to the correct places for installing and retrieving files.
-Ran bootleg, everything installed that was supposed to. I saw no unusual error messages.
-Configured bootloader and then hit "Play FF7" and I get this error message: http://i.imgur.com/6qwVmvT.png

No matter where I google/search or download bootleg from I can not find "FFVII-bootleg.bat" ANYWHERE!

I read somewhere around here that the bootleg.exe IS the .bat so I copied the bootleg.exe to ..everywhere.. and that didn't fix it.

1. How do I find this mystery FFVII-bootleg.bat file?

2. When playing the game from its own launcher it crashes upon starting up. Is that because I must use the bootloader?

Edit: I see there is a "Run FFVII-Bootleg" batch file in the installation directory but that wasn't doing anything to help me. I even renamed it to "FFVII-Bootleg.bat" which had no effect.

Edit2: Setting graphics back to software renderer tells me there's something else going wrong because now it won't even start up normally like it was BEFORE i put the mods in. This setting does not give me an error message or a close program prompt that I was getting with 'Custom driver'.

I'm guessing my best bet it to start over and be more picky with what mods that go in but I'll leave this post here in case someone can answer my missing .bat file problem.

Edit-again: (Sorry) It's working now and all i did was re-run bootleg and unchecked an option for sounds/FMV along the way... wish I knew what I did. It's working at least! No idea why the bootloader suddenly decided there was a Bootleg.bat this time either... Now to see if I can get updated FMV's to work... hmmm maybe that was what happened.

Much love to the creators and organisers and what have you! <3 This rocks.
