No, saves don't get affected by mods. You can load any save file found on the internet and it'll still crash in this case.

Let's fix this together, that way I can add it to the FAQ. Please tell me what mods you have installed. If you open BFE.exe, it should load your last selection of mods. Can you please take screenshots of every tab and post them here. If you can't post screenies, then you will need to type out everything.

It's possible there is a certain mod that is causing this issue because others and I have ran into this long ago and the FAQ was our fix. But that's not to say we just missed using another mod selection that is editing the flevel.lgp to cause this error.

The battle chest on the 65th floor is actually a part of gjoerulv's hardcore mod (and is present in Nightmare). Since hardcore is installed, your battle.lgp and/or scene.bin might be corrupted. From the looks of it one of the files was not patched at all during the installation.

You can also post the contents of your 'LastUsed.bp' file located inside the Bootleg folder, instead of screenshots (when reporting an error).

Ah yes, if I turn on the hardcore difficulty the boss appears. So cool, until I can get that to not happen I'll have to grind until I can beat that hardcore boss and move on.

This happens because the flevel.lgp file is not actually changed. I need to fix that.

Yes, I knew it was due to the flevel.lgp, but I was predicting it to be Nightmare 7. Mode Switching is definitely the issue.

So is there no way to get around the 65th floor chest bug? I've reinstalled several times, unselected Mode Switching, and tried that UNLGP+LGP tool thing, but nothing works.

Maybe I'll just have to to level grind for a few days and try to beat that Hardcore Mode boss to continue.

Just reinstall without Mode Switching, loot the chest, save the game, and reinstall with Mode Switching again.

FYI Mode Switching is buggy right now. We're working to fix it, but it'll take some time.

I couldn't reinstall without Mode Switching for some reason, so I just selected Invinsibility in Hardcore Mode and beat the boss, then switched back to normal without Invinsibility Mode on. I'll keep it like this incase I come across this problem again later on.

Installed everything according to the instructions.

Black window pops up, nothing happens and disappears. I made sure to select a sound driver. Tried this four times now. Not sure what to do.

Here is my APP.LOG

If I select default setting or safe setting in the config, it FF7.exe stops working and the game crashes.
I am stumped.

It appears to be doing the same thing with every shader option. Command box pops up, goes to black screen, and then the black screen disappears and nothing happens.

This may have to do with the installed codecs.
I recently did the K-Lite Mega Pack 10.30 installed, so everything seems to be working.

I'm in Disc 3 of the game when by mistake my antivirus removed multi.dll, and I'm not sure from which folder.
I did what was written in Frequently Asked Questions;
 - I placed multi.dll in the 'Final Fantasy VII' folder.
 -  'ff7anyCDv2.dll' in 'Dll_in' folder.
 - added 'load_library=multi.dll' in 'ff7_opengl'.
But when I load my save it still says insert Disc 3. Help Please?  :'(

When I open the game, none of the controls seem to work. I can't select Continue or New Game.

- I placed multi.dll in the 'Final Fantasy VII' folder.
There are two different versions, one of DLPB (90 kb) and one of Kranmer (4 kb).
DLPB's needs a subfolder "DLL_in" in which other DLLs are there.
Kranmers needs a subfolder "LOADR" in which other DLLs are there.
Copy missing DLLs best in both folders ...

- added 'load_library=multi.dll' in 'ff7_opengl'.
               load_library = multi.dll
should it be, blank space before and after the =

When I open the game, none of the controls seem to work. I can't select Continue or New Game.
The game is controlled using the NUMPAD.
If you do not have NUMPAD, install the Laptopkey patch.

Okay, so now I'm really stuck with that bug. I can't beat a made-up Hardcore boss even with Invincibility on.

Are you sure there's no way to turn this off or fix this? I don't want to fight any of these new bosses. Is there some way I can disable Mode Switching or whatever else might be causing this game breaking bug?

Reinstall everything again and don't select Mode Switching for your Difficulty Mode.
