but, i am here to say... I have a really cool idea for a mod.. like it be the best ever!!!!

well no... its rather simple really.. and probably not all that cool
 :-P

Well anyways..
I had a sudden inspiration.. to take all the PRP (NPC RP) models and Chibify them
:D

A.K.A size them down.. and make them fit the original game animations and such..

Murak Modder was my inspiration with his better chibi models....

It got me thinking... i want highly detailed chibis... and since i am un skilled in the 3D arts to just make them myself..

I thought why not use materials that were already existing...

First of all... i ask you... am I allowed to do this?
Cause, i don't really know the rules about modding.

I just have to give them credit right?????

And secondly...
I cannot seem to convert the PRP cloud into either 3DS. or OBJ. formats.. and they will not show up in my 3DS. Max...
does any one know why..
 i will try them in my blender and see if they show up there...

In retrospect this mod is actually the same as Murak Modder's... I am just doing all the models he is not.. such as the NPCs... and such..
i want a more.. "balanced" FF7 world...

And in all honesty..
This will make good practice..
but i want to use the PRP models... well some of there parts...

and the original models..
and sort of merge them.. and... its not working
 :wink:

cause i can't seem to extract the PRP models into a usable format... :|
I suppose i could do all my work in Kimera..
but i find it easier to have both the models open in 3DS. Max..

call me crazy

Biturn is the program that will convert FF7 models into .3ds or a few other choice formats

doesn't work..
or maybe its MAX
but.. it appears in the Bit Burn viewer..
but when i export as OBJ. or 3DS.

it won't appear in MAX...

Does it not say successfully converted when you press the 'convert' button? 

Let's use AAAA.hrc as an example.  If I press convert there will now be an AAAA.3ds file and AAAA.bmp file.  It's an export function.  It doesn't actually convert AAAA.hrc.

I'm thinking you probably already knew that though...

Biturn by defult will put the 3ds and bitmap files in the same directory, I find it easier if you save to the desktop, after this just use the import function in your 3d moddling software and browse to the 3ds file

it says successful convert.
yeah..
it just won't show up in the 3D program..
it shows up in kImera and biturn fine..
just not 3DS. MAX
i haven't tested it in blender
or any other program yet
i will do that now.

i don't know how to save to desktop.. i think i am using an older version..
is there a link to the latest version of biturn some wheres around here?

Yeah, I think Mirex created Biturn, and on his site he states the newest release doesn't work well with FF7.  So there's your problem :-)

Okay.. i decided to do all my work in kimera..

but i am having some isssues

the chibi i made doesn't quite fit the skeleton... and i then realized the original skeleton is a different one than the PRP one..
:S


oh boy,
anyone got any suggestions...?
 
Save each part of the PRP model into seperate .p files and then replace them with the originals models parts, do this by double clicking the part and save, then double click the originals parts and load, then just re-position it.
 
My PC is crappy.. it seems *is just saying... feels inept*

Um... well i did that...
and opened the PRP head over the original...
and..well..

i get two PRP heads.. and the chest and waist just utterly disappear..

Try making it bigger before you save it, I'm interested in this so I shall attempt to make Tifa....

is there a way to just replace the bones..
or change the bones???
 
Ok, save the PRP model part, eg the hand, then open the original model, click once on the hand so its selected and click remove part from the bone, then click add part to bone and load the PRP hand, then resize  :-D

i am such an idiot..
 i finally figured out how to do what you said, and it was exactly the same..
.the skeletons are the exactly the same.. just the shoulders are altered slightly

Cloud is all done... well accept some finishing touches of course..
but what do you guys think..
 i had to make him a little taller to fit the skeleton... does it still pull the chibi affect?
