I wanted to make a new save, because i have no such things to export my savegame from ps1.

Well, I guess you didn't try to hit open, select your memory card file (.mcr) then hit File > Export? It works fine for PSX > PC, but I didn't manage it for PC > PSX without PSXMemTool.

So I used this editor for the first time, and I'm just trying to blow this game. So I up my characters and GF's levels to 100. But does doing this also affect the monsters levels? In the world map the monster by Balamb are lvl 50 to 100. But the monsters in the fire cave when level 4 or 5. why is this?

Normal enemy level calculation :
- 50% chance of it being "active party's average level"*0.8
- 50% chance of it being "active party's average level"*1.2

Non-optional Bosses have a level cap (which varies from one to another).

Some places use a different formula for enemy level calculation :

- Fire Cavern : enemies are always level 5 (except Ifrit who is 6)
- Lunatic Pandora (disc 3/4) : enemies are always level 1
- Deep Sea Research Center : normal formula + 15 level
- Island Closest to Hell/Heaven : enemies are always level 100
- Ultimecia Castle : random level
- Omega Weapon (PS1) : always level 100

Can you please support Greek fonts for Hyne or at least the characters with the accent marks? When I type in latin the  Greek characters show up in my game but there are no accent marks. Also when I type in Greek the characters are not saved. I need to change the names of my  saves and the GF names. Thanks!

Um, I'm wondering what the precautions you should do prior to making edits on a save slot?

Back up is a must, but is there anything else? I'm thinking on trying this program to add some items that would take a long time to grind for. If I make a new "test slot" it shouldn't affect the other slots, right? Playing on steam version. Also thanks for this, it seems like a awesome program.

back up your save folder so that your metadata is also backed up . editing should be fine.

New member, hi there! Now here comes a bit of an odd scenario, but I'm sure the FF8 save game gurus can handle this ;) Playing the steam release of FF8 on the big screen and loving the game as much as back in 2000.

Now...since I travel a lot I'd like to be able to move save games from PC to my Vita (FF8 PSone) for the road - and back to PC/Steam, when I'm at home!

Here's what I tried: Used Hyne to export "slot1_save01.ff8" to VMP format, which my Vita handles and using the "Connection Manager" to import. The Vita stores saves in a folder called "SLES2082" (European PSN account) and under the file name "SCEVMC0.VMP". However, renaming the exported "slot1_save01.ff8" to "SCEVMC0.WMP" results only in the "No Save Data found" on my Vita.

Any ideas? Thanks guys :)

Hey, is there anyway to change it where you can spawn Omega Weapon to be re-fightable?

Just pulled the SVN code - the interface is in French, even when you set the language to English and restart. Just say if I need to post this on the bugtracker, but the latter is pretty dead.

Similar to an earlier poster, I'm trying to see if I can refight Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon.

Theres no cmake or autotools files so it was a simple 'make -j 8' job, running inplace - I did this previously (I was on this forum a year ago, looks like they erased my account since). Other than the language it seems to run fine.

Debian Testing machine here for reference.
