felix- with the way it blends color, the black in your meteor texture come out transparent in the world. fill the inside with a bit of red so that it fills out the meteor

Rised the colors. Still the middle needs to be a bit darker (transparent).

less transparent - more highlights. just raise the contrast on it.

absolutely stunning! I cannot wait to play FF7 with your new world map.

I think its ok.
Removing the blue would mean the meteor has passed the atmosphere thus having its real color.

I could be wrong and a recolor of that parts could make it better, so i'll wait and judge later.

there is no logical explanation as to why the atmosphere would make any part of the meteor completely transparent

I think the black holes in meteor must be blue
(http://sciencetheatre.org/ask_st/032096.html here is the explanation of why the sky is blue)
So everything black (including the universe and the meteor) that is outside our atmosphere will be blue. Like the moon when it's daylight  ;D

Now that is a nice looking meteor. What's left of the World Map to retexture?

yeah also, give us an option of installing the red one, and to hell with science.  ;D

After seeing your first attempt at meteor, I admit I doubted you.  Now I just feel foolish.
Yeah seriously felix, dunno what you were smoking the first time round but can I have some and enter that vortex you created back there? :P  This new one is more your standard.

wtf? FF7 has characters that can attain ridiculously impossible feats, yet they use real science to determine the color of meteor being visible from daylight?

 :o

Its more than science, its aesthetics. Usually we find that colors that would actually occur in nature are the most desirable choice.

I tried to explain this elsewhere, but there is a meld between real science and pure fiction in any fiction.  If Nanaki jumped 400m into the air during a cut scene and sliced off a rock with his teeth you would laugh.

Good Fiction has to have believability, even if not always being totally realistic.  It has to work within the laws it sets out.  This is one of the main reasons why Advent Children is god awful... it broke its own laws and suspension of disbelief.  It became a farce of special effects...

However, meteors colour is hardly a deal breaker :P

It was more of a joke what i said, as I've heard that kind of stuff about fiction before, yeah - AC definitely killed that. Even the normal characters were doing things regularly that you would think only people like cloud could do.

I think the reason it worked so well in FF7 was because that stuff was in there, but mostly as limit breaks - so it's like, "okay, only when this guy is powered up he can jump like this", etc. Having that happen all the time is like the main character of something beat every single person in existence all the time just because they are the main character.

Well the other thing is that you have to have that sort of thing in a game.  A game that plays like a film isn't very good... same as a film trying to be a game.  In a game you turn a blind eye to things like Limit Breaks and collecting balloons because it is gameplay and expected.  if you saw Cait rolling dice in a movie to damage enemies, you wouldn't :P  That's the ultimate problem with AC, it was geared completely to moronic titillation and not to sane level headed storytelling.  It tried to be a game within a film... and ended up being about nothing but graphics.

Yeah, I'll include the  bright one as an option))

Who smoked weed? No one smoked weed >_>

Are you going to make a more busy water texture than the normal look for the ocean?

One thing I really liked about FF8's overworld is that the Ocean looked much better, because of the way the texture looked and tiled.

Bad news: What an unlucky weekend.... My windows was corrupted by a virus, I reinstaled it, but now I don't have photoshop and Aali's driver displays white textures cause of the new nvidea drivers (praying that he fixes it soon) T_T

Good news: Releasing an alpha version of the WME project. Beta will be out when I finish all the ground textures. Only towns will be left for the last.
