if i could only count the times i have replaced XP with a linux distro .... (hint hint)

Jokes aside, you have your OS driver formatted to FAT32? NTFS performs better with large drives, and you don't have that annoying 4GB file limit.
Unless you mean the USB stick, than nevermind what i said :P
 
Yeah it's a USB stick, and I transport files for some of my family.  Their devices do not support NTFS.
 
As in they use Apple or they're still stuck pre-Win95? (Can USB even be utilized pre-Win98?)
 
I think Fat32 is often used by devices like receivers with recording function or DVD players.
 
I also think some linux Distros make you download extra stuff for NTFS support. Which if someone set up their PC with say Ubuntu, they may not know how to do. (not that i know if Ubuntu has that issue or not)
 
ntfs-3g is in main and im pretty sure installed by default at least in *buntu might not installed by defalut in debian
