The black screen after clicking Play is common. Open FF7Config.exe, click on the Sound tab, and set a sound device. When it's left blank, the game won't start.

Open "ff7_opengl.cfg" with notepad, look for the line "music_plugin = plugins/ff7music.fgp" do a # before this line and save this (#music_plugin = plugins/ff7music.fgp).
Then start the FF7.exe, finish the game immediately (alt+F4) and write the new app.log in here.
If there is now something like "INITIALIZING MIDI..." appears, you can remove the # (which you had just inserted) and start the game normal with bootloader.

Although the game has come a little further (INITIALIZING MIDI ...) has apparently nothing to do with your problem.
When I use bootleg somewhere he loses the file "battle.lgp".
Fortunately, there is a backup of it.
Make a copy of it in the same folder
rename this copy (highlighted remove) to "battle.lgp"
At the end it should look like
But you can use my patch, he also corrected some other things.
