I tried out the new driver and ran into some things
1. The highwind is now semi-transparent
2. Cloud is semi transparent on the world map (sometimes)
3. The menus and world map are much darker

The game crashed when I tried entering the cockpit whilst driving the highwind
Here is my crash.dmp
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=793CE1OZ
and my APP.log
Sounds like you didn't get the new vertex shader for some reason. Make sure main.vert has been updated.
Not sure whats going on with the crash.

I updated the vertex shader, everything is cool as a cucumber now.  :-D
The crash I was getting disappeared after I enabled ff7 music in the config(I was launching the game from ff7 music)
I forgot to enable ff7 music LOLZ

fantastic job Aali! your truely a man of the people, you've included everything we begged you for and a few thing i didn't know we wanted.  Not sure how you can top this, but i sure you'll surprise us.

Lee

There are still some crash issues but they shouldn't happen during normal play. I noticed some things aren't really doing what they're supposed to be doing at all times, but overall it should be pretty stable.

Anyway I'm sure there will be more issues for you to find in this release what with the new fancy features and all, so perhaps its best to consider it a test version.

So what was wrong with my APP.log? I don't know how to read it.
I didn't really get what problem you were having. There's nothing wrong with that APP.LOG

Weird. When I play the game, a window appears saying something about the indirect path not found or something. And then it says to check the APP.log.

If I recall correctly I had the same problem with my laptop. Which was most likely a shader issue because of intel. It still let me through eventhough it said "indirect path not found, check APP.LOG"
So it doesn't really bother me.

Ah yes, it can't do any scaling because you don't have NPOT texture support.
You can turn off prevent_rounding_errors or play in 640x480 to make the warning go away.

I'm getting a crash that seems to randomly occur when a battle is initiated.  It seems to always happen right as the battle swirl effect is finishing.

So in other words, is that good or bad? Will it effect future playing? And how?

hey, its me again, i got the FINAL FANTASY VII PC - NEAT COMPILATION OF PATCHES AND MODS (modes 1,2,3,4,5b,6) and had a white screan every time i played, but i found that 1 patch is the 1 cousing it... [The_SaiNt]_High_Res_FF7PC_Patcher.exe works fine.... The [The_SaiNt]_High_Res_FF7PC_1280x1024_Fix_Patcher.exe its actualy the patch that causes that white screen, now i finaly used all patches exept that 1, i was able to play final fantasy 7 with your custom driver... Very good work indeed(fixed my DX5 compatibility issue), but i've got the same problem that VonZippa, it says that something went wrong and created a crash.dmp and a crash.ff7...

The battle swirl on my XP comp, it's a white screen, but except it doesn't crash. Weird. It continues onto the battle but the swirl is suppose to be... Well, a swirl, lol.

thanks for the update Aali.

I was trying to get the full screen start menu effect, I used the picture here, i've converted the tex file back to png, how am i suppose to make it work? Where do i need to put the picture in?

i've been experiencing random crashes on the new version. Either going into town map or entering battle crashes.

you have to hex edit the original background the make it call an external texture.  Search the forums for info on how to do this, or wait a while and there will be an Avalanche ;) of new ones premade for you. Simply replacing the original TEX file will not give you the fullscreen aspect.

thanks, I'll wait for the patches then.

kinda a bug report but nothing big, When exiting out of FF7 through the menu (only tried in windowed mode so far) it crashes. Weird it stopped crashing when i fixed the issue below. Still having the issue under the edit though.

Also, for some reason FF7Music stopped working, though that could just be an issue on my end. Nope no matter how hard i try i can not get FF7 music to work, it worked fine with the last version of your driver. thanks to someone in tech support who had the same issue and fixed it. I'd like to point out that you still have a # infront of the location to the music plugin, No big deal i know. But you might want to clear that for the next release  :-P

EDIT: another possible bug report, this one at SL's request Seems the team avalanche fonts have a transparency issue

Thanks for the new custom driver Aali. The new full screen opening menu works fine but I just wanted to mention that when I’m using it along with the “SaiNt's High Res FF7PC Patch 1280x1024 fix” the external image does appear on the background but it only covers the ¼ of the screen. Otherwise it works just fine. I’m not sure if it’s just me who is not doing something right or if it’s just how it works with the “SaiNt’s patch”.
